I honestly don't understand what the big deal is about having anime on a cable TV channel like Cartoon Network. That may have been a semi-efficient way of introducing new shows to ppl back in the 90's or the turn of the last century/millennium. But in this increasingly broadband enabled internet age of high quality streaming video on demand, it seems very inconvenient to try to watch stuff that way. Especially since by the time it airs there it's usually at least a year or two old.

It's like those old "Encyclopedia Britannica" commercials they used to broadcast back in the day. You don't see a lot of those advertised anymore right? That's because nowadays ppl have found it much more efficient to just go to Wikipedia online for any info that would usually be found in a hardbound physical encyclopedia. You want dubbed anime? There are a lot of better options out there to get it, like streaming video sites like this one, or the one Sentai operates and that gives you a choice of which audio to hear it in. Seriously, what good is Cartoon Network these days.

Actually, I think having anime on Cartoon Network, or TV in general, is still better at introducing people to anime. TVs are still the preferred medium of entertainment when it comes to watching shows. With internet, you have to have a very good connection just to watch videos. TV, especially cable TV, does not suffer near as much from this. For instance, over here at my parents' house, I can only watch videos on the internet at certain times of the day when the signal strength is good enough. On the other hand, I can watch TV at any time of the day, and they have DirecTV, not cable. Plus, I would rather watch any show on a TV screen than on a computer monitor, and I think most people feel that way.

Also, the internet is only convenient for people who are already big into anime and know what they are looking for. People who don't watch anime or know next to nothing about anime, which there are many, are not going to look up anime on the internet. They are much more likely to watch it if they conveniently come across it on TV. I, as someone who has seen a fair number of anime, am also more likely to rewatch an episode of a show that I have already seen if it is conveniently on TV at the time. I'm likely not going to go out of my way to look it up on the internet.

You claimed that cable TV may have been "semi-efficient" at introducing new shows to people back in the 90s. I'm curious as to what makes you think internet nowadays does a better job of this.

Well for starters there are all the complaints from people about how late the shows come on and that the time they are aired is not convenient for them (those ppl had better have a DVR or some such device or they're out of luck). Whereas video on demand means it is available whenever it's convenient for the viewer. And back when CN first started showing anime on things like "Adult Swim" & "Toonami", things like Facebook & Youtube didn't exist. Nowadays with more and more people getting their news & info from social media networks & such, one has to ask "why not their info on anime?"

Now as to the need for a good connection to watch videos, you may have a point there. I have a friend who lives way on the outskirts of town and he says all they have out there is DSL, and that it isn't very good for streaming. But even with that, given the ever increasing availability of broadband internet and the continued popping up of "WiFi" spots on just about every corner, and the push towards Smart TV's & the incorporation of internet into home entertainment systems, either thru a HTPC or something like a Roku player for Hulu (I see Crunchroll now is available to view over a PS3 now), it just seems like the trend these days is to get pretty much everything thru the net & at the end users convenience, rather than on a cable network's schedule, and be limited to what little they can give you (i.e., what handful of shows they manage to get the rights to show at any one time).

I'd go for Darker than Black and Gintama. Adult Swim is known for violent and inappropriate jokes all around so these two anime fit the bill.

Yeah I agree with you. I love those series but I wish they would get newer ones. I think they could if they got more revenue from people watching on Saturday nights and they even said they were "Working on it". Bleach I think will be there till it finishes the series though and they DID add Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins to the lineup..... which to me are "pretty good" but not great series.

They really only show Dubs on Adult Swim and I would HATE to see the Gintama dub be shown! (Even though they only dubbed the movie )

Darker than Black would fit PERFECTLY into Adult Swim.

I agree with Gintama. When I first started watching Gintama a while ago the first thing that came to my mind was, "This screams Adult Swim." It has action, the best comedy, and it's long enough so if ppl like it they would never run out of episodes.

A dub of Gintama would be pretty bad....

But another good anime might be Blue Exorcist

Or maybe Beelzebub....It's not as funny as Gintama, but should work well for Adult Swim.

If they re-Air the good classic Gundam stuff, maybe I'd consider even watching TV or Adult Swim again.

I'm talking about MS-083 and such. I miss that. If they show Big O, Wolf's Rain, Paranoia Agent and other classics, definitely.

One thing I know for sure...their programming has gotten really lackluster. It's bad enough that they lost Space Ghost: Coast to Coast...

but what passes for "programming" nowadays is just plain obtuse, irritating, and boring.

I guess I didn't mind "Look Around You," but the other Live Action stuff was just lame.

Adult Swim's anime is hella out dated. They really need to bump it up and play something a little more recent and perhaps more widely known. There's an anime called Denno Coil that I really enjoyed, and I don't understand why no company has picked it up yet. I think it'd be a really good addition to CN.

As much as I love GITS:SAC, they've run that thing into the ground, along with (may my fanboy card never be revoked) Cowboy Bebop. NGE would be a good replacement. In my opinion, anything new and somewhat twisted would be great, for example Deadman Wonderland. LOVE IT!!!

And bring back Death Note!!!
