is it true that the more lighter/fairer the skin the more beautiful?

No. Lighter skin is a reference to someone's wealth. Only rich people who never had to spend their time outdoor working in the sun would stay pale, while the poor ones, or average ones would have to work, thus getting tanned, thus meaning they are poor. It's an old tradition, cult, which is now outdated.

Besides that, to each his own. Some like it fairer, some darker. It's all about the individual asthetical views of the person.

Floetry~

but fairer skin has more advantage compared to tanned?

hmm, well some traditions remain alive, somehow, but see, there are also sexy actors who have darker skin..I personally prefer if someone has a healthy skin colour...instead of having such a pale one..

It depends as well on the society/country you're living in...In America a lot of people want to get tanned, especially white people, while darker skinned people tend to head for the lighter skin..it's all a racial and psychological complex..

haha! and here in my country (asian country) alot of people wants lighter skin! well, include me i guess...

thanks for all the replies everyone!! just to make it clear, I don't really want to drastically change my color from brown to white. Just wanna get rid of a tan that's been there for about 3 months now. and some acne marks too (now those are always like 2-3 shades darker than my natural skin so it's annoying)

also, True or Untrue?
You can get skin cancer from lightening products.

I've heard creams that contain hydroquinone do that, but i don't know...

I like my white/yellowish skin. I don't like tanned skin; it looks soooo fake.

hmm when im in UK everyone tries their hardest to get a tan when they can lol. Holidays to Spain, France w/e. and some people go overboard with their fake tans lol.
whilst when im in korea, people do anything possible to avoid the sun lol. hats, parasols, masks w/e lol. Its basically to stop u looking like a common countryside folk lol.

so yea... i guess u could use hats when ur going outside or use some lighter foundation?

you want to lighten your skin?
honestly, i don't you should.
you should learn to be happy with the tone of your skin.
there's nothing wrong with being darker.
unless, it's one of those overly bleached blondes with overly tanned skin. ick ick ick.

heres some old school korean techniques

while cooking rice, put your head inside the steam for a couple minutes then wash your face with the leftover water from the pot you cooked rice in

I dont know if this works my mom just told me about it...The only thing that I know is it doesnt work instantly so you'll probably have to do it for a month or so

I think that whole "grass is greener on the other side" mentality plays into skin tone, because a lot of dark people want to be light (i.e. you.) and lighter people are always hitting up the tanning salons and beaches.

hmm.. being from a naturally brownish sort of and hella happy with khaki colored country i can say that a lot of people here are quite convinced that having darker skin means you'll have a harder life, nobody's gonna marry you coz' you look like someone who's been out all day at the fields..

in contrast to this situation... The light skinned ones are obsessing with tans just as badly as the dark skinned ones desperately want to be lighter
