The manga just says it happened but doesn't go into any detail. Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show if you are currently reading the manga you know that the he went to train on toad mountain. The scene with Hinata is also supporting her role in this weeks manga. Like I keep saying the filler fills in what the manga leaves out.

If you're a true fan enjoy all of it and not just the exciting parts.
