Naruto companions from Konoha grow irritated and worried that Guren and Naruto are not back yet. They form a 'rescue team'. The seal group takes action again using the four corner seal on the reawoken three tails. Sai is given the task of keeping Yuukimaru safe from danger, but there is a sudden attack from Nurari. Kihou and Kigiri, also strengthened by the technique received from Kabuto, manage take Yuukimaru away. But in these circumstances, Konoha is failing to seal the sambi, while darkness grows in Kabuto

Kabuto wants to consume both the power and life of Yuukimaru in order to make Konoha fail. The power of the three tails being used through Yuukimaru is tremendous, and it manages totorn the seal apart. But Shizune and the rest are saved by unexpected allies. Naruto and Guren reach Yuukimaru which is in a very bad shape. He recovers consciousness being called by Guren but the truth about the death of his mother is revealed to him by Rinji. Yuukimaru finds an answer after being revealed all this.

Kabuto finally appears before Naruto. He tells him Orochimaru's plan of using Yuukimaru and Guren, he rages and engages Kabuto in battle. On the other hand, Guren tries to escape with the weakened Yuukimaru, but they are stopped by Rinji, who is working with Kabuto. Guren's crystal jutsu are disabled thanks to ultrasound waves is bested by Rinji. But she pulls her strategy to protect Yuukimaru as she promised. Yuukimaru shouts out loud driving the three tails mad, vicioously attacking anything.
As for naruto, in order to protect Yuukimaru, and to fullfill the promise, he confronts the three tails.

Konoha ninjas return to their base to treat themselves, the battle damaged everybody. Yuukimaru, being in a coma, cannot control the three tails anymore. Tsunade inquires on all of the reports, and she judges that they cannot continue on such a dangerous mission involving a Bijuu. She prepares new measures, by picking a new platoon to be dispatched, and she tells everybody to return to the village. Yuukimaru's condition grows worse in that evening, and this makes Naruto worry. On the day of departure, while seeking the three tails, he sees Deidara and Tobi at the lake.
