Have to say I prefer the anime one because it leaves things open ended and up to the viewer. (besides, the manga wasn't finished when the anime was made) My theory on the anime ending: 1) You don't see Lucy actually get killed, just her other horn being shot off. Her vectors were much longer than normal too, maybe she used up her diclonius ability fighting the army? 2) The shadow at the gate has no horns, and Nana was already in the house at the table anyway, so it can't be her. 3) The dog barks at the shadow, the only people the dog barks at in the anime are diclonius, IIRC. 4) The music box stops, then the clock chimes. Lucy liked the music box, Nyuu liked the clock. So my theory is that Lucy's personality 'died' fighting the soldiers, leaving Nyuu with her body. Of course this makes things pretty complicated for Kouta relationship wise...

I think this means that lucy died but nyu still lives i think so. For the manga well i didnt understand the two girls at the end maybe they represented nyu and lucy but it was a good ending thougn
