Anime in overall, especially at the end was disappointing to say the least, but the manga's version was surprisingly tragic and well executed.

Its pretty nice.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I mean those two twin girls at the end maybe me feel like Kaede and Nyuu was remade into two little twin girls after "Lucy" was shot in the head by kouta. Poor Kaede out all the ways she had to die why did she have to melt... |

It's an okay ending. :3
It gives you the opportunity to decide which ending you'd like. Whether you think it was Lucy or the cat-like one. ._. |

Hmm, I thought the ending was...okayish. It showed a silhouette at the end which I believe is
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide likely Kaede's personality in her older form. She wanted to "kill" her violent personality which is her unnamed DNA personality as well as her Lucy personality (which those scientists named her based on Lucifer) so she can be with Kouta and the others as a person. It's probably impossible given the crimes she committed and the things she's done in the past but it's what she strives to be. There is a very high chance that she did not die by the end of the anime series. Ultimately, it's a sad ending in a sad world and Kouta is the one of the only light I've seen in Elfen Lied. Mostly everyone else is...the opposite of what he is. |

Mostly everyone else is...the opposite of what he is. Lucy knows she can't go back after the things she's done, arguably those things can attributed to her Diclonius DNA but also her own traumas, if she didn't die her diclonii infection would spread rapidly and her 'offspring' would create a war with the remaining humans. She gets both of her horns broken off (one by Mariko and one by the firing squad) which ultimately means death for a Diclonius. Physical appearance wise perhaps, that silhouette at the end could be her but her mind (ie personalities) before losing her horns (Lucy and Nyuu) died with the detached horns. That silhouette could just be a walking mindless husk who's only desire (maybe from a piece of Lucy's mind that didn't disappear fully) was what Lucy and Nyuu wanted, to be with Kouta and have a family. But yes, regardless, the story is a sad tale in a sad world and I would say Nana, Aiko, and Mayu are 'lights' in Elfen Lied as well. Everyone in the anime/manga is a sad character to some extent of the word. Also the German poem Elfenlied (obviously) is one of Elfen Lied's direct inspirations which based on the lyrics can be seen in the manga and anime. |

Damn I havent read the manga. And if that happens then I'm pissed off!I hate Yuka, I like Lucy even though she killed his family. I can't stand Yuka.

As stated somewhere else on the CR forums, I think the ending should have been more rewarding than a cliffhanger...
...Also, Yuka should of died, 'nuff said. Her character is so very irritating. |
