AWESOME!
I'd probably wear Kame & YamaPi's school uniform from Nobuta wo Produce.
I liked the colours (cosplay?)

dress up like drama characters? :3

Well, I did for an anime convention (then again, the series was already a manga and an anime so I guess people could've thought of those mediums first)

I think it would be harder to dress up as a drama character because most of the time, unless they're in school/work uniforms, have a super memorable outfit from a certain episode, or always wear some other VERY specific type of clothing (like Yankumi's tracksuits in "Gokusen") you could go to a convention dressed up as a normal person and then claim it's from such and such drama LOL

To the one person who thought anime conventions were lame: don't hate on the anime conventions... different strokes for different folks XD

oh yep xP wat did u dress up as?
but still even though we dress up as drama characters like wat u said gokusen T_______T it an anime too xD

I dressed up as Yankumi, which is why I mentioned her as an example. I was inspired to dress up as her after watching the drama (and finding out that I only had a week to prepare a costume). I read the manga, but I only began watching the anime after the con.

And I already said it was a manga and anime... in the FIRST SENTENCE I WROTE LOL.

But my main point is that unless someone wore an outfit THAT distinctive (or a uniform) not everyone would "get" who your character was unless you went around screaming "I'm ________" or had a picture or sign or something. Take, for example, Nodame in "Nodame Cantabile": she dresses in a certain style, but it's all normal clothing (and plaid - which she always wears in the drama, if not in the anime - is really trendy for fall) so unless you came dressed in her mongoose costume or dragged around a guy in a tux holding a conductor's baton, you'd have to tell everyone that you are Nodame if you wanted to be recognized.

Unless you just want to dress up just for the hell of it and not care if anyone recognises you or not... that's cool too LOL. I was somewhere in the middle, where I wanted to dress up for my very first con but I didn't particularly mind if no one got it, since most of the time I have to explain my costumes anyway (I did get stopped for pics as Yankumi, though).
