Attack or Defence?

In MMORPGs I prefer to focus on defensive stats and skills. It's fun watching people who focused on offense drain all of their MP trying to take you out, then once they're exhausted I just take them out in a few hits. Plus it's easier to try to outlast someone rather than press a button faster than they do, especially when things like lag and their buddies trying to gang up on you gets in the way.

A strong defence can lengthen your "lifespan", while a strong attack can shorten your opponent's "lifespan". Personally, i think i would build up my defence first...wat do u think? btw, do you think attack = defence?
