No, here where I live First Nations/Natives are way hated. And I think Africans suffer a lot more racism than Asians do. The worst I've ever been discriminated against was someone making weird "Chinese" sounds at me and asking whether or not I understood him

My friends do that too me, and they know I'm Filipino. They always go Ching Chong Ching Chong, and I always say good job you just called your self a retard twice

alot of people make ignorant assumptions, someone a few posts before just said it's actually Koreans with the small eyes... and on the first page somebody said Melbourne isn't a racist place.

First of all racism is the most stupidest thing ever, second of all, everybody in asian's so obsessed with looking western they cut up their eyes to make rips in the corners to make them huge and double eyelids/creases (e.g. hamasaki ayumi) and raising their noses and nose bridges to look like caucasians.
I mean, sure small eyes doesn't give much in terms of character to the person, or is that just how the caucasians want us to think...?

Yeah, Australia's pretty racist, you might say there isn't much racism in Melbourne but Sydney's the most populous city in Australia, I live in Sydney and there're so many asians around I hardly experience racism of the insulting kind, but at school caucasians would only hang with caucasians and asians would only hang with asians, so that tells you something.
You head up to the most "white" suburbs like near the beach with not many asians and they totally start insulting you, I was on a school camping trip to one of those places and some asshole started telling us to "go back to where you came from" or something like that. Hilarious though, considering he didn't look very Aboriginal to me, if you know what I mean. Ironic...

It's funny, I haven't experienced racism as such, but I see a hesitation in others to mix with other cultures, because they think that I don't know, its awkward to mix with people who don't speak english or have the same cultural values. Yeah, it's sad that people can't have even that much of an understanding to mix with others. I'm not just talking about caucasians, I'm also talking about asians. Alot of asians are quite racist too, including the immigrants, it's shown in their dislike of interracial relationships.

OK so enough with the ranting, I just wish people could see past the language barrier and be kind and compassionate, and understanding to everyone else.

I don't like this whole "them and us" thread. I was ordering ho dduk from our local korean pancake stand when this big chinese businessman barged in front of everybody and started yelling at the korean guy cooking the food, barking orders and asking him a multitude of questions in Chinese. We were all so confused....excuse me sir? He's not chinese, he's korean....I don't really think it has anything to do with 'race', as far as I'm concerned we're the human 'race'. A lot of people misunderstand the term.

However the communications barrier often leads to the most conflict, not the colour or skin or facial features. My friend here is Chinese but is a New Zealand citizen. However because she has an accent she can't get many jobs. If she didn't have any accent nobody would give a crap about what she looked like.

i'm not asian, but where i'm from, there really is no blatant racism. just a few jokes and the ocassional sterotype, but nothing serious (although some things can get out of hand, but this is rare and the offender gats a hard time from everyone else about for a long while).

who hasn't experienced racism being asian? seriously -- depending on where you live you might not experience it as much (it's there) it also depends on what type of person you are

There really is much misunderstanding toward us and it's ignorant and although I hate to admit it, sometimes I feel like it happens due to many of us not wanting to open up towards other people. That's probably why you see so many whites being able to tell each other apart while assuming we are all the same. So then I think it's partially our fault as well. I hope no one thinks I'm contradicting myself. I just try to look at it through different viewpoints.

The funny thing is, I remember my Indian friend asking me if all Asians speak the same language. He's a nice guy and I know he meant no harm but I can't understand why he would say that when I clearly know that India as one country has so many languages. But hey, Indians are Asians too.

So far I've never encountered any of those experiences...maybe because I've never gone out of my country ? ^^"

But to be honest, racism is everywhere. More over in a multi-racial country like mine. But everybody just have to tolerate with each other, we are all different and unique. I dont know what the problem is, for me I'm excited to get to know people of other races. A prob maybe on the language tho..
