true. even UK singers once find it hard to break into the US market(not very sure about the situation now).

It all depends on how they do it, regardless of talent, it's easier if they partner up with some big names over here & colab a track on their album or something.

Here's a list of some recently popular methods used

The Bust Your @ss by Touring & Colab Method
M.I.A. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.I.A._(artist)
2005 - Started Touring/recording with American artists Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani, Timbaland, and others.
2007 - Finally got some US press in Rolling Stone and Blender's "Album of the Year" 2007—Kala, USA Today's "100 Most Interesting People of 2007".
Feb 2008 - Released "Paper Planes - Homeland Security Remixes EP" --

The Big Name Colab & Make A Hit Single Method
Estelle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estelle_(singer)
2006: Signed to Atlantic/Homeschool Records
2008: Colab with Kanye West "American Boy" --

The Get Produced by Big Names Method
Leona Lewis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leona_Lewis
2007: Lewis' second single, "Bleeding Love", produced by One Republic's Ryan Tedder, and written by Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney and Ne-Yo. Lewis was included among "8 to Watch in '08" in Entertainment Weekly's 2007 "Entertainer of the Year" issue.
2008: Her album "Spirit" was released in the United States and entered the Billboard 200 at number one. The track "I'm You", was written and produced by Ne-Yo, & the track "Forgive Me" was produced by Akon. --

I'm not saying they aren't talented, but it's a lot easier to get in to mainstream when you've got some big names lending you a hand.

Edit: She's using the The Get Produced by Big Names Method
After watching/listening to the teasers I'm pretty sure that this will be it for her "American Debut" (as in "Nice try, but nothx hun, been there done that with the pop-girls of the mid 2Ks"). The song isn't all that great, it has a nice beat which will get you pretty far in the US but the lyrics stink & if that first one is the vid they show for the American version its as good as dead. Kinda sad, I like her.

If they really wanted to promote her they need a better video. The MV is where its at, even if your song kinda sucks you can hide behind a cute/catchy/cool video and make it into a hit single & maybe more. Damn it this is AMERICA, Land of the Mass Media & Home of Sex-sells ... she's cute & can dance pretty good too, that goes a long way if you use it right...

First!~ Ditch the token black guys and stick in a couple more attractive ample bosomed ladies (& hot dudes), just cause it's America doesn't mean you gots to have the black dudes in your video... sure we may have a lot of black ppl here but we don't need to be reassured that this is the "American" version cause its got black ppl... mkay?.
While you're at it ditch the cheesy green screen backdrop too, shoot the vid in a warehouse or something, hell walk outside & shoot it in the middle of the damn street... just leave the CG to Hollywood.

Second!~ Blow sh*t up! Just like you did in the other version, we like things that go Boom! Fire is hot, girl is hot... see the connection? Wet is also good.

Third!~ Sexy Dancing. Give her some sexy/trendy clothes & some sexy backup dancers & let the girl dance. We like to watch sexy ppl dance.

Got it? A Good Beat, Shot in a Sexy (hell how bout real?!) Loc, Breasts (& I guess some 6-pack abs for the ladies), Sexy Dancing, Boom!... & more Sexy Dancing with water = hit MV & probably a hit single.

Did they even look at any currently popular US music vids before handing us that pile of sh*t?

Oh man..Poor BoA. MV looks nice, her, the dance and beat does too.. But the song lyrics...

I wish her plenty of luck on this one. America doesn't seem to like albums by asian artists.Utada Hikaru's first and second English album doesn't sell that well.( I hope her 3rd would be out soon. She grew a lot since those albums so I'm excited) and she spoke fluent English not "engrish"(no offense).

The accent of BoA's English can be heard in the Teaser A beginning. Perhaps the whole MV when released would be better but still...

the only asian artist am looking forward to actually making it is se7en. he has been living in america for a couple of years, trying to learn our culture and language. his english is almost perfect. rain and boa's english is really bad and her song isnt even catchy enough for americans.
