i don't like the pass or fail system. i prefer number grades since they encourage you to try harder to raise that grade from say an 85 to something like a 90 or above. with the pass or fail system you wouldn't know if you had a 70 in the class or a 100. that would piss me off.

i've always had a few questions about the pass or fail system though.

how would the pass or fail system go into calculating GPA and class rank? how is it supposed to work for college applications? i'm sure if we had a pass or fail system then pretty much everyone applying would be all PASSes.

lol a commoner

excuse me?

It'd be alot better for the people averaging a C, but for the people with parents that don't get off your back, always wanting A's, they'll be disappointed, because they want to know in DETAIL how well their son/daughter did

are you trying to imply that you are supposed to be better than me in some way? show some respect or at least explain what drove you to call me a "commoner". if not then quit trying to be an elitist on the internet.

BAD IDEA!!!

it would be easier 2 fail, and they'd prob be more harsh on da grading, so yea it's a bad idea

Heh, He's just lower on the evolutionary scale than you. A mere Australopithecine, nothing to worry about.

I just want to ask a question so that I can back-up my essay with "statistics" and some quotes from you guys. What if the United States or countries using the letter or number grade report card system change it to only "pass" or "fail". Basically, what you will see in your report card will only be "pass" or "fail".

Is it a good idea? Why or why not?

What do you think the advantages will be? What are the disadvantages?

What do you think of it? Share your "educated" opinions.

first off, you'll group the idiots that managed to pass the EASY standardized test along with the actual smart people

That would be unfair. For example a student would recieve a 100% average and gets a pass
while another student receives a 65% and ALSO gets a pass...i mean how would that make sense?!
On the other hand the student who recieved the 65% would be quite satisfyed<<lol so it's only really that student who benefits..
