That can be done by adding on other textures or playing with adjustment layers like curves, selective colouring, color balance or gradient maps (:

Can I ask your opinion on something? I did a little experimenting with textures (and the pen tool ^w^) and this is what happened:
How do you think it looks? I think it looks a little plain cuz I couldn't think of anything else to add :\

Hm, I'm not too fond of the strange brushing in the background, and the focal just somehow doesn't click, like it's totally two separate things from the background. Also, it might be nice to erase the lines from the notebook texture, and make the copyright a bit less obvious.

Thanks. I crave opinions like that. Last question: How do I this [the text that doesn't appear black]: (Credits to CloeGirl)

I believe the creator of the image set the text blending mode to Overlay.

OH I KNOW. : D
1. Okay get your text and stroke it.
2. Then duplicate text layer and put it under the first text layer ( step 1's layer ).
3. Clear the layer style and make the stroke bigger than step 1's layer.
I hope it worked ROFLL.

i would like to know how to blend to pictures together... (:

There are a couple of methods, the most easy being putting your lasso tool at 40px feathering, then lassoing the area you want to keep, hit CTRL+I and delete. Erase with a soft brush if necessary.

Another method is to click the little box at the bottom of your layer's window that looks like a circle inside a rectangle.. that's the quick mask tool. Grab a black/white gradient, and drag it across your picture.

.. I'm online shopping now so no screenshots D: I'll drop some in later.

ohh thanks! (:

how about stuff like this then?
