I like thrillers, mostly....

Because books are nice and interesting. Sometimes just for relaxing, sometimes they're lifechanging. Duh.

I like fantasy, but not just some wizardry here and fairies there and dragons way over there. I want fantasy with some meaning. Try Terry Goodkind if you want what I want The Sword of Truth series. Simply amazing.

books enhance your mind and stimulate the imagination in ways television, subtitles, the internet and manga don't.
You can also learn things. Reading is a skill, and the only way you get better is by doing it. As you get better, your appreciation (and interest) in books will also develop. That's why people read.

Im sorry to say but you are kind of asking this question on a site whos average age limit is lower teens. We all know how they dont generally read anymore

I'm interested in books that can stimulate your mind into thinking ways you've not before reading them. It's a bit too general but an example would be how books can relate to some history we're quite familiar with. It doesn't even have to be a "hard read". Some adult books are even intertexted from fairy tales and those kinds of things fascinate me i.e. Wicked by Gregory Maguire.

Besides books, you can pretty much find bits of interesting pieces here and there from magazines, not tabloids. Reader's Digest is a fun read as well as Time and National Geographic among other things. I don't read entire magazines cover to cover. I just pick one that interests me.
