Animes are cartoons, they are Japanese cartoons. If you dont like this, then i´m pretty sure people will agree to calling them "Animated-Series".
Are you displeased with yourself that you enjoy watching cartoons, well if you are, then maybe you should stop watching anime.
Anime is just a style of cartoons:over-sized eyes, spiky hair etc.
And the depth of thought and character development is a great deal more significant than in other genres, so i don´t mind it if anyone says that i still watch cartoons, because its true. I just make the distinction between good Anime and sucky cartoons clear to people i know, and if anyone else has a problem with it, then i have to say that i don´t really give a damn what they say.

Anime refers to any type of animation in Japan. So it is a cartoon, just a sub type of it. You only like the difference because anime is a Romanized foreign word that sounds cool to you. It's a cartoon. Deal with it.

do you know what the japanese call Disney? surprise! they call it anime too
in america, we have adapated the word to mean any animation that comes from japan, but over there it is pretty much any animation period, though it usually refers to their own
so even by our standards, all anime are cartoons, but not all cartoons are anime.
next thing you're going to say is you get mad when people don't think you're an otaku because you watch naruto
