The Katana isn't really a strange sword. Neither would it be the greatest sword. There is no "Greatest Sword" only swords which are more or less effective for their uses.

The Urumi of India has to be one of the strangest yet interesting "swords" around IMHO.

Heavenly Sword Is strange yet cool cause it can split in two and has chains attached so you can throw it around while its 1 or 2....Which makes it a very effective sword since it covers three different combat styles

In my opinion, I don't think that any sword is awkward or weird....They ARE designed that way for specific reasons...whether it be to sever a head better, or for the victim's slow and painful death...... But for me, nothing is awkward or weird...all swords are good, and fun to play with. ^___^

Exactly so. Not counting all the useless anime blades, I would have to say the Urumi of India (see my above post) is the strangest defined BY the use and not the way it looks, though many will raise an eyebrow at the way it looks too. haha

I also agree with you on the whole "no greatest sword" comment. It is true, there is none and I don't think there will be any anytime soon. No sword can be claimed as the best or the greatest, because each has a different purpose and meaning to them. So people are stupid to claim them as "great" or "powerful" or what say you. Or so in my opinion. Don't mean to offend anyone.

And of course there are many useless anime blades that by gawd I don't know WHY on earth they put them up in the first place...... >___> It's just stupid. True, true on your comment about how people will only assume it to be the strangest by it's appearance. I have not heard of it before, sadly. But it does seem to catch my attention as to wanting to play with it.

Yeah I wouldn't much want to play with it either. Might poke an eye out or something!

The giant-ornate-fantasyblade is similar IRL to a predicament that is happening with martial arts.

Giant-Ornate-Sillyblades are far more popular to the point you don't even hardly see much of realistic blades and if you do, it's still dominated by the silly blades. Because they look flashy.

IRL, Flashy schools of martial arts dominate the industry. Taekwondo, G'ungFu, Wushu, WingTsun, and more are incredibly popular while widely known to be of no actual use in combat. They are simply ineffective to a moot point. Plain, Quick arts like Judo, Jujutsu, Kenpo, Kyokushin, and the like are deemed boring, though widely known to be extremely effective.

The conclusion: In combat, if it's flashy; It's useless.
If it's plain and boring looking, it's effective.
