The Girl's Of Today!
Posted 9/16/08

Hello friends,
What is wrong with the girl's of today? Really what is the matter. So many people say this world is changing... but into what? A world that is so screwed up eight-year-olds now wear underwear that say's "Jail Bait." That is not cool? What are we doing wrong to make them act the way they are now?

Just yesterday I saw a girl and her friends walking up to the food shop I was in. The first thing I notice what was way off was that these girl's were wearing lipstick. Eye liner and mascara. There skirts were so short anyone could of mistaken it as a underwear and they had a tube top on. These girl's were about ten to eleven-years-old. The second thing that I noitced was that the girl's ordered salad. Salad with the dressing and no drinks. "I feel so fat!" one of them whined. The other agreed and the third one stayed quiet. The thrid one said softly, "maybe we should just get ice cream. Aren't you guys tired of salads?" They looked at her like she was crazy and said, "no we well get too fat!" I was in shock. These girl's really did not know the definition of fat.

But there is not only these girl's that have a problem there are thousand of girls. Who look up to celebrities. Not the good one's. The on'es that donate money but the on'es that party. There are so many girl's with issues. Some of them now take pictures of them naked online. These girl's are not thinking and if they are... then it is all wrong.

Call me old-fashion but I think I liked it back in the 1800. When the girl's wore there dresses up to there ankle and there mind was as clean as a whistle. But how about you? What do you think of the girl's of today?
Alexandra (Alex)

P.S- This is not to be taken personal. This is general.

They have no self-worth any more, they could at least sell those nude pics. j/k

Anyway, I blame the media, films, publicity, etc.
The media, films, actors, publicity, etc. are to blame, they tell the little girls what to wear and what is in and out, etc.

Floetry~

EDIT: btw, this anorexic picture...ewww

I honestly find those girls to be a bit of an eyesore
I mean, they're so easily influenced by what other people think, just to fit in
Just to be accepted into a certain society
It's like... if they tried to be themselves for one, the world would end
It's really depressing, to say the least

I too blame the media, but I also blame the adults who allow their children to wear things like that at such a young age

They sure are one of the main problems. Do you know the movie of the bratz doll. Not very impressive. And it took a hard toll on the girl's of today. I am as well sure that the media with there celebrity crap has brain washed these girls into thinking that they can be like... Miley Cyrus. Or Avril Lavigne. Especially quizzes for "pre-teens" as: how kissable are you? Or why are you a kiss virgin? KISS VIRGIN! lol.

Girls receive a lot of pressure for looking a certain way and in way we get a hurt a lot more than guys when insults are being thrown at us about our image.
It's always been true that if you're slim, clothes will fit you better, people will find you more attractive but it's because of some celebrities and this whole size double 0 Hollywood glamour that's being all publicised at the moment that's making anorexia a problem.

It's also in part to who you hang around with. If all your friends are the kind of people who worry about their weight and dress in short skirts then you absent-mindedly fit into that "norm." To be honest I think all of these anxieties go away or at the least lessen over time as girls grow up.

Yes I do as well. I find that as parents want there daughter to look beautiful they are as well (if not doing correctly) doing more damage then the magazines. I remember when I was young I wanted praise from my mother. I wanted my mother to dress me up and call me beautiful. Girls of today too. But as I see these mothers are not stopping there daughters... instead they are continuing it.

What is wrong with girls today. It's like all the confidence and worth they had years ago have slowly dissipated overtime and now current generation girls are so obsessed "Am i thin enough" "Am I pretty enough" "Am i tarted up enough", it's enough to make you sick. I can't stand those girls, honestly i'm glad there are so many on this earth or different, because if I had the choice of either wedding one of them or killing myself, I'd much rather kill myself. I don't blame the media, granted they sure don't help matters by setting this standard of which "All girls have to follow else they're ugly", but when it comes down to it girls have no backbone and would much rather follow those stupid standards then realise their own self worth and follow it. I find a girl like that, I find my future wife, simple as that.

Self-esteem is critical in today's world. However, girls (most) lack that self-esteem and choose to go with the "new". They disregard the effects that might happen if they were to do it. Conformity is rampant today.

Personally, I don't think it's sad. I rather think that the whole idea of being skinny to look good being funny. I mean, look at it this way. They diet themselves till skins and bones, then when they want to marry, they gain on some weight. Afterwhich, they start complaining about how the clothes don't fit them anymore and do the same bloody thing again.

From what I observe, America has the biggest problem regarding this, while Asia is the most free of girls too skinny.

i erased my post here and now im going to fix what i said.

i believe the older you get the less peer presser is on you, (well for me at least) you grow into your "social group" and u dont feel the need to impress people as much. im 16 and in 11th grade, for like the past 1 and 1/2 i didn't feel the same urge to "fit in". more or less I grew into myself. i think many people wants to be skinner. i do, but it wont kill me that im not a size 2 i just want to be healthier now.

the media is a huge problem. The way young girls see the super skinny models and the superstars, when a lot of younger girls dream of being cheerleaders and supermodels. i did. i wanted to be a cheerleader but i didn't want to were those spandex uniforms i thought i was too fat, so i never did it. now i see its not that huge of a deal. but its a thing that you mentally move into.
The media should lesser the amount of extremely skinny models and use healthier models. that may help.
i think this is more of a problem in North America. but maybe that's just because i see anorexia a lot in highschool .

NOTE TO TOPIC STARTER (Superchick31):
These people only represent barely a fraction of the girls out there today. It's like when all the Americans thought most of the middle east's population were terrorists. These girls may give people something to rant about but if you look at everyone else around you I'd say not as many girls are not like the ones you describe.
In all due respect, I think what your refering to is part of the general degradation of moral value that seems to affect a majority of the world. I know you are smart superchick31 but you'll need to remind everyone of this.

Edit:
Might I add that getting skinnier is not bad, but certain desperate behaviors like bulemia and anorexia. And being underweight. Hell I want to be buff but that doesn't mean I have to take steriods.

I'm fine with myself. If someone else isn't fine with me, why would I want them around?

Not to mention there's a difference between girls with low self-esteem, and girls pretending they have low self-esteem to fish for compliments.
