Rankings? What rankings?

I answer you with a quote. Maybe next time you can learn to read up a little before you post utter bollocks.

Actually you're all wrong.

Goth [in context] refers to a subculture of people [or the people themself] who are fans of a music genre popular in the late 70s through the 80's called "Goth Rock."

No; Marilyn Manson, Evanescence, Cradle of Filth, etc. are not goth.

Goth Rock is like The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Specimen, Sex Gang Children, etc.

It's major subgenres include Darkwave [Goth + New Wave], Deathrock [Goth + Punk], and the dreaded and often hated EBM.

It isn't about darkness and depression at all. Infact it was first called "Positive Punk" as it was a more poetic and less chaotic derivative of Punk.

It was once said that no self respecting 'goth' would claim to be as such as the title sprang from a joke and remains the same.

If you've ever been to a goth club, it's actually a quite colorful place. People from all fashions. Some emulate their favorite band's members fashion. Others wear tshirt and jeans and still others dress loud and colorful. Goth has nothing really to do with fashion at all.

And Goth has absolutely nothing to do with vampires. Vampires do not exist and if you believe otherwise you should seek some medical attention.

Emo is like an updated and more 'in' version of goth. If you're a goth, you'll probably get more shit than an emo. And god, don't say stupid things like 'yeah they sit in corners and cut themselves' or whatever coz that's just stupid. I'd say that emo is more of a style, not based on personal traits. But hey, it's always hard to give clear definitions of emo and goth I guess...

That's a load of bollocks.

The two are completely and absolutely unrelated and yeah they do have pretty clear definitions.
