kay i just heard that they're not gonna approve any designs inspired from anime/stuff that's liscenced...is that a final decision? cuz if that's so half of my designs are gonna get disapproved.

but i really see no point of this since it's just inspiration.
i mean people do fan arts all the time and there's nothing wrong with it

EDIT: i thought liscense was cuz if we watch here no one'll buy

Hm... CR's pretty strict about licensed material. They won't have fines to pay, but it won't be as fun :(

It's an odd policy since you can come across a lot of games (especially ones that have anime influences) that take homage to other properties in items like equipment that are technically "licensed" although they never mention that they are derived from that source -- a good example is MapleStory with several Naruto-inspired items.

This is merely speculation, my assumption is that if this is accurate is that they may have been too much of an influx of anime-inspired (and/or as Begonia mentioned below me "cutouts" and more of borderline submitted content) material at the moment they wanted to see some original equips that were not connected to existing series (or in the reason in this case series that are "licensed".) I also see this as one of their methods as the revising of their content guidelines so it's firmed much for when it comes out of the beta. However, the problem arises between what has been licensed or has been told to cease and desist (but not licensed). I'm sure that's another aspect of this rumored policy that needs to be addressed as well.

If they decide to make mention about enforcing it I'm sure they'll likely to be reasonable about it (a good idea in that case would not to enforce it retroactively and apply it to items submitted after a certain date.)

Arrrggg, I hope this isn't true... The game wouldn't be fun if we couldn't play "anime" dress up!

Even AMVs made of licensed animes or series are in fact illegal. So, even designs that are based on any licensed product are illegal.

Maybe it would do you good if you would read what this link has to say about licensed material ---- http://wiki.crunchyroll.com/Licensing

Just... put in a request for a rename = \ a lot of items from anime are just common items, you're just putting them under a name that we can't risk approving.

Ah so the policy was more of a name thing than actually having the art available as part of a character. That made much more sense since I was just about to dig more into stuff regarding derivative works. I had faith that it wasn't too terrible since CL has been reasonable regarding some of the stuff used in this portion of the site.

Thanks on my end for that clarification :)

If you randomly copied and pasted an image from the game like maplestory or something and submitted under the same name on CR and Nexon admins find out about it. They can easily sue CR and well..then its no CR,,so if u do like an image from another mmorpg game..modify it so its your own design in a way :)

Well, a lot of items are unique >< For example: A Final Fantasy 7 Bustersword is hard to mistake, and that might come under conflict = \ but certain outfits? Well, they can be renamed as they probably exist as actual clothing somewhere. But it's just best to be original - it'll earn you more respect.

I understand if they want to ban cutouts from official images and screenshots, but I don't see anything wrong with hand-drawn things... Alot of my things are cosplay items...

You might be safe for items that are already accepted... for now... I mean, I would hope so, because most of my stuff are also from anime... Best not to point out if your item is from an anime/manga...

-whacks self on table- Well, that explains why my vampire knight set got disapproved within 10 minutes. I should've check the forums before making any items, I could've saved those few hours for making non-anime related ones.

Items will get approved if they are listed as a generic item. If they are not too specific... (ie Allen's hand from D-gray man) And DON"T MAKE A MENTION OF THE SHOW THEY"RE FROM!

Some people may know the show, but if you don't draw attention to it, then it might get passed.
