Agree with all of the above!!

Maybe most j-actors are pressured to be thin, the same way actresses in the West are.

I read this on another thread, that for a joke(I think) Nishikido Ryo and Yamapi called Akanishi Jin "fat" and that he needed to lose weight.

That is so random,(even for a joke) considering Jin is like skinny and has some muscle(somewhere):

WEIRD, RIGHT?!?!? (still like him though)

maybe that's an older picture of him cause now I wouldn't consider Jin skinny at all....he really has a nice body and broad shoulders which you don't see on other actors/singers...
He's fine just the way he is(and this is coming from someone who doesn't like Jin)

on topic:some actors and especially j-actors should put a little more weight(like Kame for example-in Nobuta wo Produce he weighted 40 kg...I mean wtf ...but now thanks to One pound gospel his body is 10x more appealing and hotter)

LOL. Yeah, I can't believe Kame was that skinny in Nobuta wo Produce (even Maki said it herself) It's so weird, when I weighted 40kg, I was like 10, and my height was around 145cm. I can't believe most of them are skinnier than me and taller. WTF?!?!?

Oh, btw, not to trouble you, would you have a picture of Jin like how he looks like these days?

instead of trying to be uber thin, why not just go for body building, i mean not too much (i didn't mean like those from mr. universe of something!!!) , but a good defined muscles would be more attractive than a pile of cute anorexic actors ..

right on, especially japanese guys! I also do think that they are way skinny. Bulking up a bit will make them drop dead gorgeous.

Yup. And it's not just the j-actors but some of the korean ones as well...

One example will be Jae Hee. He looked alright in Delightful Girl, Chun Hyang but he was just skeletal in Witch Yoo Hee...

Another example is Joo Ji Hoon. He looked fine in Goong but kind of skinny in Mawang...

I think the reason why the thinning guys are "in" is because the trend dictates the rise of lanky actors, rather than the bulky mexican chest popping actors. The principle of wide lens in television also is a factor. 10 lbs are added to your figure when seen on tv, esp. now that almost all tv stations use wide lens to make the studio look bigger, thus, making the actors look bigger along the way. So if they are so so thin on tv, then they would be most likely so so so thin in person.

I think that sometimes they can get and be a little too skinny
but you as long as they are healthy and continue to make good
dramas, I can care less just as long as I'm entertained.

some of them tend to gain weight as they grow up(like yamapi , actually in kurosagi dunno if it was the hairdo but he looked a bit to chubby he is perfect now though ) and the rest r skinny because they work really hard like kame with his << 2 hours of sleep>> routine during drama filming .but skinny, chubby or just right , they always look amazing i'm so freakin' jealous

Hmm I actually quite liked Yamapi in Kurosagi. He looked healthier.. most of the Japanese male leads are definitely too skinny. Seeing ribs and sternums sticking out is just not that attractive. I'm not into 'chunky' guys, but I think a lot of them definitely need a couple cheeseburgers.
