oh!! i went to the one in San Francisco on Oct 25! it was kind of scary!! There were three people there: 1 Japanese lady, 1 Japanese man (i don't think he spoke English because the Japanese lady had to translate everything for him), and then 1 Chinese lady (who spoke Mandarin). My talent thing was singing. When i got there, there was this stage thing and they make you stand in front of them and ask you a bit about yourself. Like, name..etc. Then you preform your talent, so i had sing...which was super nerve-racking! After you're finished, they asked you more about yourself like...your parents background, if you can speak any other languages, how you came about your talent...etc. they were nice, but it was pretty scary! good luck to everyone who's doing it

Did they speak to you in Japanese or in English, were they Bilingual?

I'm pretty sure the two girls were Bilingual and the guy only spoke Japanese cause he didn't say one word the whole time. The girls were really nice and smiley so that was cool.

As for if you HAVE to know another language, i don't think it's a MUST but while i was waiting for my turn, this guy that worked at the studio said that it would definitely help you during the audition. They did ask if i knew how to speak Japanese and i told them i knew some so she asked me to just introduce myself in Japanese. And then the mandarin lady asked if i knew how to speak Mandarin and i answered in Mandarin that i knew a little. I sang "Soba Ni Iru Ne" but Aoyama Thelma and they asked me how i memorized it and i told them by memorizing the romaji online! haha...but yeah

i'm 19 and i just went by myself. there weren't any official forms you had to sign. you just go in and there's a sign in sheet. Then they give you a sticker with your name on it, take a couple of digital pictures of you and then you have to wait for your turn to come up. and yeah...that's pretty much it. when i went into the audition, the avex people had a copy of my application and picture. yupp.....oh! and i don't think i mentioned this but during the whole audition, you're being filmed~ good luck everyone!

AVEX GROUP ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF AVEX STAR SEARCH

U.S. portion of avex’s worldwide 20th anniversary talent search
Seeking talented 13-24 year olds interested in becoming a star in Asia

(New York, NY) avex group, one of the world's largest independent entertainment companies, has announced the launch of avex star search, the U.S. portion of the avex 20th anniversary avex world audition 2008. avex is seeking talented, U.S-based, male and female musical artists of all racial backgrounds, aged 13-24, interested in becoming a performer and recording artist in Asia.

Potential applicants must first sign up online at www.avexstarsearch.com using the audition application form. All accepted applicants will be notified via e-mail about audition requirements, locations, specific requirements and times. Not all applicants will be accepted.

Selected talent will be invited to sign a contract with avex group and embark on a career as a performer in Asia. All applicants must be able to temporarily or permanently relocate to Japan. As skill levels and age will vary among selected talent, contract terms will be set on a case by case basis. Selected talent may also be invited --at the expense of Avex-- to attend the avex Artist Academy, where they will receive additional vocal, dance, acting, language and modeling training, refining their skills at one of two state-of-the-art avex facilities.

avex group will be holding auditions for avex star search in the 3 U.S cities this Fall, although other cities and states with significant numbers of applicants will be considered for separate auditions.

The current audition schedule is: San Francisco, CA - October 25th and 26th, Los Angeles, CA - November 8th and 9th and New York, NY - November 15th and 16th

For more information, official rules and to register for avex star search, please visit: http://www.avexstarsearch.com
