probably not, if you're talking about the asian dramas.
cause unlike soap operas, they end.
and i think people like sex scenes [ -.- ], but asian dramas barely show any of that stuff.
and yeah, cultural differences are way too huge.

Hmm, looks like a simple spelling mistake, well I am a human being after all. But that's not the point I'm making here.

You're asking for criticism and ridicule if you make fun of people in terms of grammar or phonetics when - not only did you spell "grammar" incorrectly - you also used the word "actual" when the proper (hint) term should be... "proper." Also, you use the word "entire" instead of "whole"; not to mention if you say the "American" sentence, it sounds "whole". I think you mean to say, "I correctly spell out words and use proper grammar." I'm not entirely comfortable with someone insulting other people and using a train-wreck of a sentence to represent proper grammar; or English for that matter.

Anyway,
There used to be an Asian sitcom on primetime television back in the '90s. I forgot what it was called but it was okay for about 1-2 seasons then it stopped airing. They relied way too much on Asian jokes and stereotypes to be funny. Not to mention the directing and acting was subpar.

Of course. It all depends on the Asian support. Black sitcoms work because black people watch them. There's black television/media because black people strove to get it. The same with Latino media. If Asians put enough effort into getting good TV shows and other media and Asian citizens support it, then it'll work.

Oh ? "You're asking for criticism and ridicule if you make fun of people" Well now, I'm well aware of that, If someone decides to ridicule me, then fine, It'll just end up being a total forum war, which I'm perfectly fine with. It would be amusing to me anyway.

"I'm not entirely comfortable with someone insulting other people and using a train-wreck of a sentence to represent proper grammar" Well now, that is not my problem, now is it ? Go sulk in a corner if you want, I dont really give a damn about other peoples feelings anyway so, that is not my problem.

well it might succeed if they target the 'white' audience but other than that i dont see Asian-Americans showing too much interest

Wow. Don't get all excited and emo on me. I'm not ridiculing you nor do I want a pissing contest with people I don't know online. I'm stating a typical comment and saying that insulting a culture (in this case, grammar) with a grammatically incorrect sentence will seem pretty silly. You notice how politicians (ie. presidential candidates) look silly to the public and media when they make an ironically funny mistake? So, why would I be attacking you by saying that insulting an entire cultural (in this case America) and making an ironic mistake might lead to some less than friendly responses? I didn't tell you that you were stupid nor insulted you; unless you just purchased the latest version of the Jump-to-Conclusions Mat.
By the way, you may be surprised but my feelings weren't hurt by your grammatical errors. But CR does provide us with a <quote><response> button to comment; and not all comments are going to be agreeing with you. If you feel as if you have to get the last word, prove me wrong, or show that you have a feeling of indifference to me or anyone reading; I don't mind.

Heh, I wan't insulting America , I was just simply saying that the American people as a whole have at some point in time decided to "butcher" the English language, thus resulting in the "American" that you hear everyday, Its just annoying to listen to the English language be utterly butchered in the way it has.

Sitcoms regardless of the nation of origins have one thing in common, humor. The humor derived in a majority of sitcoms is purely cultural, thus Asian sitcoms will not work in the US and vice-versa. Take Japanese humor for instance, a lot of it seems to be word play gags. We rarely see that here in the US. US sitcoms seem to capitalize on, well... sorta stupid stuff. I don't really appreciate television humor or television in general.
The only true humor that will appeal to everyone in the world is Charlie Chaplin sketches. They are pure genius in the fact that he appeals to the emotions of human nature. Something that all of us share in common. And it's hella funny!

I think sitcoms are all going to fail. Soon all the producers will cheap out and all that will be left on Television is reality shows.

But in all seriousness, an Asian sitcom that white people would actually be willing to watch will either be
the most racist piece of shit in the world
or something along the lines of "Harold and Kumar" that would only last about 2 seasons.
