That will only get you so far....don't rely too much on that method when you're in college.

from experience, it is really helpfull not to study so hard. but to study well.

first thing u need to do is consult your teacher so you can organise what to study. and as much as possible do your preparations months before the actual test.

write a list of the subjects and its topics down, and tick it off so you wont miss anything.

Dont study with more than 3 people. youd really find it difficult to concentrate to study if you have more than that. preferably, people who can actually help you out.

Write down the questions you have and ask your teacher.

In maths, the only way to really get a good mark on it or atleast pass it is to practice every formula coz thats the only way youd remember it.

Hmmm...I really barely study. I am a type of person who just look over my notes an hour before the test and do very well! I don't know that's how I am...

I have worked out a method for test studying that ALWAYS nets me a 100% on any type of test, so long as it's recorded information and not critical thinking. On critical thinking I usually score high because thats a strong point for me but I don't have a study method for it.

The first part is actually paying attention in class. Every single day take notes. Notes are actually very important. Not half #$$3& notes. Word for word notes. If you quick note things you miss information or at the very least context. Writing consists of I think it was 30% of your memory retention. What you see is like 50% (meaning rereading notes) and what you hear is 20%. (I remember that from about 4 years ago when our government teacher made us copy that off the board word for word, grammar for grammar, space for space, if ONE THING was wrong you redo the whole thing. It took most students a month or more to get it perfect, it was much longer than what I said.)

So take notes. Reread them every so often when you have nothing better to do before the test. (everyone has spare time they waste). And the night before copy by hand ALL of the notes you have collected once or twice. Pay as close attentuion as possible to get it word for word. I know how anal this all seems but if you are really serious about high scores and good grades this is almost flawless. The lowest score I have ever gotten was a 98% when using this method.

If you are lazy then most of the time just copying the notes before the test (none of the rereading or anything) this will still usually get you a 70% or better. Good short term memory helps.

I also rarely study and do well... I got a 4.0 last semester without studying, although this semester of college won't be as good.

Repetition seems to be very effective for me... but so annoying... sometimes after I quit studying and go to sleep it continues into my dreams. ;_;

I feel your pain dreaming about oxidations, titrations and thermodynamic problems is not the best thing in the world

and me, dreaming about 0's and 1's.

i always rewrite my note...by hand, i don't usually retain anything that I type, but somehow I think handcramps rev up my cognitive skills. also right before the test, like about a half an hour or so before, i sit somewhere quiet and listen to my ipod and try to clear my mind. cramming does not work, but usually when i clear out my head, i feel totally relaxed and ready to take the test

are you going for a doctor degree in any field starcrossed?

I used to look over old notes and re-read chapters I found confusing. Anyways, thankfully I'm done w/ college so I don't have to worry about tests anymore unless I want to get some sort of certification for my field of work. I haven't bothered w/ that so far.

Anyways, good luck w/ your studies. College is a bitch.
