Textbooks usually have a chapter summary and self-quizzes. look at those if you don't think you have the time to search for the details you would otherwise come across by reading the book. Sometimes it feels like you're going in circles before the point if finally presented to you.

Then there's just this habit of mine relating concepts, terms, etc. to something for better recollection. One method is singing. It's weird and funny at the same time. For example the biological term transporters, I sang it with the tune of transformers. la la la transporters, enzymes in disguise la la la @_@

For a big test like SAT IIs or AP exams, it's best to get familiar with the material early on. I spend the last week before using extra materials like study guides, etc. Studying the night or hour before for those types of tests is NOT EFFECTIVE--sleep and breakfast would be a better use of your time.

As far as other tests go, well, I think it depends on the testing style of your teacher. Some I can glide through with just a glance over the material the period before. Others are harder.

hmm.. make things up... i mean if you can't seem to remember a very very long science word, then put a story behind it.. then everything might probably go well...

and studying earlier for an exam is a good one too.. although i don't really do much of that, i still try to!

i usually dont study before a test. i just run over my notes after lecture and what not. if something really bothers me then ill go ask someone.

but its kind of tradition for me that on the morning of the test i boil water and make some honey lemon tea. and for no reason will i ever look over my answers after i finish the test, i go with initial gut instinct.

i cram the nite b4...

and if its a lotta material, i maybe start cramming the week b4...

depending on the subject... if its like a lotta math, i usually do a buncha practice tests. if theres like a lotta information, i sit down and slowly n thoroughly go thru all the material.. maybe taking notes along the way.. and skim thru it again rite b4 the exam...

I usually skim through my notes on the subject. I've noticed that if you know a lot of vocab on the material then it really helps a lot. But otherwise I really study too rigourously. ^_^
