of course, they are cartoons aimed at children, so they are going to try to put little lessons and morals into their shows. they do the same thing in every show aimed at kids. you see the same thing in america. or mexico.

i swear, at the end of every anime series there is a little speech about having to "keep moving forward"

i really like it, because although a "slice of life" anime doesn't really depict a student's life accurately, the little lessons in those shows give me a feeling of what the japanese see as good qualities, what morals they hold, and lets me get a better understanding of japanese culture than the actual show depicts.

just my 2 cents

Animes aren't cartoons.
A cartoon is a waste of a 1/2 hour and has no real plot, where as Anime has a actual plot.

That's the worst definition of anime I've ever seen. Nice attempt to differentiate the two.

Most of the philosophy in anime is pretty shallow, somewhere between irrational, hippy liberal humanism (I must protect everyone! I just know it's right!) or hedonistic nihilism (I shall rule this world!!!!! Because I am strong!!!)

I can think of very few anime I've seen that don't get a little philospohical or preachy.

Yu Yu Hakusho
FMA
Spiral
Trigun
Kikaider
Big O
Rurouni Kenshin
Battle Royale (it's a manga & a book, not an anime)
Alive

The list goes on and on.
