naoto serizawa live his life with the burden of the past , accidentally killed his classmate Hideo, become a police detective to catch criminals hoping he can atone his sin, there is a hint the he may be the possible successor of his father's company ( note: his brother envied him because he is the type a person who speak his mind than most people do: ep 11 recap)
he really want to say the truth but his father forbid him as it may ruin his company image, after 11 years one by one his friends are being killed, he also lost his brother and father
manaka tomoo, lost his mom and brother, the truth is being hidden, living his life to manipulate the murder in order to get his revenge, making NAOTO who accidentally killed Hideo to become a real killer by killing manaka tomoo, manaka tomoo throw away his name, even love
they both die (naoto killed someone accidentally and now he is killed accidentally / while manaka is being stab by his accomplice and died after naoto's death )
both live their life suffering, both cannot forgive themselves, both regrets for what they have done
BUT WHO IS MORE PITIFUL?????????????????????

For me it's Manaka.
Of course, Naoto also suffered guilt through the past 11 years but it turned out that he decided to atone for his mistakes by becoming a detective whil Manaka chose to be evil in order to attain justice. He left his past, lived up to the name Naruse and set aside his love life because of the pain of losing his lovedones. Sad.
Anyway, in the end, they both deserve forgiveness. Really. |

it's hard to chooose...they are both pitiful..both had done too much, and cannot go back. Which is why, I think the ending was very fitting. Just like Mawang's ending, which i loved. xD
I chose Manaka Tomoo...cuz his life just got RUINED...he lived for revenge, yet as he was getting it, guilt must've been eating him apart..what with him falling in love with Shiori and then regretting everything and trying to stop, yet cannot go back. In the end, he was prepared to die! He's not totally evill...just circumstances of his life made him that way. Besides, he didn't know Naoto didn't murder his brother in cold blood or that it was an accident...He didn't EXACTLY murder anyone anyway...they wouldn't have done it if they hadn't wanted to. He's just extremely smart to be able to figure out people's emotions and kind of nudge them in a way.Ne?

i think tomoo is a bit more pitiful...his brother died and then his mother died so he had nothing left, his life was basically ruined. after killing all the ppl close to naoto...he falls in love with shiori and starts to regret it...so that must've been so hard for him..on the other hand naoto he had everyone close to him killed..his father brother died just when him and his dad kinda made up...and all his close friends...so naoto is pitiful..but tomoo's life was basically ruined for 11 years and serizawa a little period of time.so i gotta say tomoo..^-^

I think it's tomoo..It's harder to live with yourself if you chose revenge to direct the path of your life..He had a chance to be happy with Shiori and turn back from his ways but he didn't...It's so sad the way he suffered all throughout his life ever since his mom and Hideo died...Naoto on the other hand,only really really suffered when his whole family died...(I mean suffered as in like tomoo did when he was just a kid..)....

I think Manaka is more pitiful, because even though they both lived their lives with regerets Manaka lost his family so he was alone in the world whereas Naoto had both family and friends.

both of them...Naoto suffered alot during the series, his friends were dying one after the other, his family as well, Manaka suffered from the time he lost his brother till the end...
