Posted 9/19/08 , edited 9/22/08
This topic are made by an Asian that are also an Anime fan who are concerned about Anime future. And this topic not intended for American race but intended only for the American who are from united state of America

Should american stop cosplaying Anime characters because they tend to ruin your favorite/loved Anime characters?

For Anime sake american must stop cosplaying Anime and Asian video game characters!. Like what you read above I'm an Asian who are also an Anime fan so I don't care if you american ruining your own Cartoon and american video game characters but not with our Anime and Asian video game characters!.
Incomplete cosplay costume are still tolerable or accepted but not with FAT and black cosplayers who will surely ruin the Anime characters personage/image they are cosplaying [ when fat peoples cosplaying slender Anime characters or when black peoples cosplaying non black Anime characters ]. The list below are just a very small percentage of the American cosplayers who keep on ruining the Anime characters they are cosplaying :

Cosplaying is not just for fun, think about the feeling of hundreds thousand Anime fans out there who are fan/lover of the Anime character you want to cosplay, don't ruin their love!. What most important is think about the Anime character personage/image and the Anime they come from that you want to cosplay, don't ruin them of! so don't go on making yourself selfish by saying cosplaying is all just about fun.
I'm not saying 100% American who cosplaying as Anime characters are bad but COMPARED to the other cosplayers American is the one with the most bad Anime cosplayers. We Asians working hard to make Anime so have some appreciation by at least cosplaying our Anime characters that suits you. For anyone who concerned with Anime or care for Anime especially with particular Anime characters you like or love then please spread this information for Anime and millions Anime fans sake!

More info :
Cosplay means/defined as dressing as CERTAIN characters such as when you cosplay Rukia from Bleach Anime or when you cosplay Metis from Person 3 FES video game, so cosplay not means/defined as dressing as RANDOM characters such as when you cosplay random soldier, pirate, or any random character with no name. That is why when you want to cosplay you have to do it accordingly and seriously. Don't be a selfish and ignorant person by saying cosplay is just for fun, think about millions Anime fans feeling when they see you ruin their favorite/loved Anime characters [ only if you do it terribly because of your selfishness and arrogance ], think about the Anime where those character come from because cosplaying are also like advertising the Anime where the Anime characters you are cosplaying, also think of the Asian feelings who worked hard make all of those Anime.
If you think it deeply by doing a terrible cosplay you also ruin the reputation of the peoples who are the same country as you and even the same peoples who are the same race as you. So if you want to cosplay then do it seriously or don't do it at all or you can just dressing as random characters that not come from any Anime, video game, movies or other form of entertainment that have fans/lover

I would advice that you don't offend Americans so you will have enough money to keep "working hard to make Anime." Let kids play. It's not as if cosplay is important. Appreciate having a fan base at all.

Hey why this topic gone in here? I was hoping to get more opinion by making this in Anime section since it is intended for Anime fans.

You made the topic a poll, so it was moved to the poll section.

Also, don't expect things to get pretty with the tone you started in this discussion. I, personally, think any cosplayer tends to make any anime look bad (unless they're THAT good... there are some cosplayers that do a fantastic job)... but I wouldn't blandly point my finger to Americans, in general.

So please avoid generalizations, and a word of caution to anyone else who posts here, too... please don't take things too personally. I'll keep my eye on this thread, and if things get out of hand, It'll be locked ~ no questions asked.

Nothing can ruin my favorite anime characters for me. Not even a 300 pound white chick in spandex and a bad wig. If you are so easily offended by other races embracing your culture, there's something wrong with you. Fat white people are just as deserving to wear a costume as thin Japanese people. In any case, lots of anime characters are NOT Japanese. Do you think an Asian could pull off cosplaying Barret from FFVII? Get off your high horse and let the rest of us have a good time. If it bothers you so much, stop going to cons and looking at cosplay sites, because diversity in the cosplay community is here to stay.

Also, from the look of your photo references, you're saying fat people shouldn't cosplay. Not Americans shouldn't cosplay.

By the by~ the last photo is Rydia and Rosa.

Okay, so I do find it really annoying that some people try to cosplay who look nothing like the charcter, but that dosen't have anything to do with being American. I'm American, and i'm very careful when I cosplay. I always try to make sure I do the best job I can, and I don't cosplay as someone I look nothing like. (Then agian, I guess its not that hard for me because I'm a skinny adorable blond girl) But that is totally besides the point. Cosplaying is not spicifically meant for asians, there ARE characters who are black you know. (Sure most of them are probablly from America, but that dosen't mean you shouldn't respect the art form) Howver I do think its really disgusting when a fat person tries to cosplay some really tiny person, it just dosen't make sense. And if it was a fat asian, it would not make it any less bad. (Though I've only ever seen like two fat asain people )
