Age per se, is not a deciding factor on friendship. Age matters only in the sense that you two may have experienced different things, or are at different phases of your life. Perhaps your friend thinks that you two cannot relate any more to each other.
I have great friends that are twice my age. Although we are obviously in different phases of life, we still hang out and chat about life. Its not the similarity, but rather the communication that makes up a great friendship.

nah it dont matter at all ,all u need in a friend is someone to be there for u and share some of the same intrests .Hell i have had friends that are twice my age and i have still been able to relate to them .

i don't think so..
if age did matter then thats just sad.... i mean.. they might just have the 'age' but they are probably just like urself...like for example, my frnd is 15, but on the inside she isn't like 15 at all..she's way more mature than that..where as me, a 15 yr old, i am way less mature than her, yet we are still friends.... i know we are the same age, but on the inside we are both different. =]

Personally, as a high school senior, I wouldn't be trying to initiate friendships with middle schoolers. However, if I had an existing friendship and it was a valuable one, I wouldn't discontinue it for age alone.
