I don't really think too that it is very possible for one to neglect friendship at small, and child certainly will have a need to find friends for support. So I think age doesn't really matter on such things~

I think the girl thought you two were getting to deep and it was becoming more than just a friendship. If she really saw you as just a friend age wouldn't matter so much. It'd be more like having a big sister than anything.
