Although I haven't check all 88 pages, I would say that I agree with what appears to be the predominant opinion here (that age shouldn't really matter that much as long as there is some form of common ground; someone please correct me if I am wrong about my assertion that this is the predominant opinion).
I do feel old in some communities (even though I really shouldn't), but as long as there is common ground and no physical/emotional/socio-economic harm being caused by the friendship, then it's fine.

I don't think so. I became friends with someone who were in their 40's/50's and I'm 22.

No! beside how do we know age people we meet online. I know people many ages and when you having something share it does make easier. The actual years apart makes it hard, when we don't have much in common, but what really make does it is if the point of your life and theirs is so different. Why, schedule may not match and they may want someone who can understand what they going through over you. So it really depend. In end it's your and their effort that count.

Most of the good friends I have are much older. but I'm about like an old man myself.

Younger people tend to annoy me though, so I dont have as many of those friends. I prefer to be a mentor to people especially young, not a friend.

sorry but if your age is right, your not old. Wait 50 years then you can talk that way. (it bug me, I work with people in their 60's and over. I've met people over 100 years in age. so nothing personal, this remember that you and I this started to live.)
