Like the title says, what would you think if that happened?

Like if Naruto's name was changed to something like Jake
Or Tamaki to Lucas?

I think that'd be awful cause their names would be too plain and it'd take away the fact that the anime is japanese and that it was made in that country. I'd be really upset if that were to happen.

p.s I've noticed that when i go into some threads people are being mean saying stuff like "this thread is the most stupid thread ever!" or "i want to smash your keyboard to stop you from making stupid threads" well if you dont like this thread then dont post. I dont want anyone being mean ! If its a dup lock it, i dun care!
It wouldn't be Jake.

It'd be something similar to....Naruto. Time to get the baby-name dictionary.

^ Well i think your ryt

well if thats the case.. try the closes literal meaning
or something that will be a good stand in for it
example: Yuuki -- Literaly--> Snow
Yumi -- Literaly--> Water -- Reated meanings --> Flow, Clear, Serene

You're right about the name meanings but apart from that, some character names had a deep connection to their past, family, behavior, location and etc...

japanese names sound more affective so i'm glad that there japanese instead of english cos english names seem to be boring and plain wear as japanese names sound cool and unusual n it's really cute wen they say chan on the end mine would be Francesca-Chan but i think Fran-Chan sounds cute lol

To be honest, names don't really make the Anime great to begin with. It's one of the habits that come with being Human, that once something is changed or removed, we feel empty inside and start complaining. Yes, some Anime do have some names that were *important*, however, most anime do not. Christ almighty, the name changes should be the least of your worries. (dubs, theme music, to name a few).

Does L/R automatically suck for having guys named "Jack" and "Rowe"?

Considering many anime are made with Japan being the setting, having the characters with Japanese names would make the most logical sense. The names should fit the culture they are in after all. However as far as the anime that does not take place in Japan, or are not specifically "Japanese" based culture wise, I don’t think the name would affect all that much. Unique names often help define a character of course, however often times it isn’t as necessary. That’s my opinion.

Certainly a good point.
