Well, to conform is to keep things stable and for the sake of survival, however that maybe defined today. Things will always change, but as with evolution, it will change slowly.

I keep things at a balance point of view, so I am not a conformist nor am I a non-conformist. If anything, I am the person in the middle trying to compromise both sides helping it to transition.

Perhaps conformity is merely another device people use with the sub-concious idea that many other people are already doing something that it must be the right thing to be doing as well, hence if one follows in suit they will be more successful. Also, maybe this is an instinctive way to pass on successful survival traits?

I do tend to adjust myself to be "more like others". D: Maybe it's because I don't like to stand out. I might say I like uniqueness but I have trouble doing that myself sometimes.

ultimately I figure conformity or non-conformity it's all the same to me, because I don't really care and it's not worth wasting time worrying about it

Well, most things work in patterns. If we see a pattern, especially something that will benefit one's self or the group, then most likely, it will be followed. Well, that is what I observed in my zoology class. I am really not into psychology and philosophy and such.
