Your entire paragraph didn't answer the question in a straight-forward manner. Also, you can't compare such harsh words with a joke that wasn't even supposed to be offensive. Did i call anyone "chink?" I don't think so. I'm also against racism, but I don't see how my joke and offensive at all.

Also, please do not comment on my diction, as all my sentences flow well with it, and I don't see a problem with it.

I repeat the question: How exactly do you find it offensive?

let me ask u why are they harsh words?? see u and i have different standards even tho i know not to use words like japs, chink and nazis i totaly dont feel like they are harsh word and i really wont feel offened if a person call me that but to some those words are very sensitive and meglovesya is right you really dont read the post like the person above me and i quote youkainokagami

3. Well, I'm chinese and I wasn't that offended by it. I think its cuz things like that bounce off me. BUT I know a lot of ppl who would be and I can definately see how it could have been offensive to other people. I think it's because we tend to associate "eating everything" to barbarism and desperation and some other negative qualities because it implies that they do not have any standards and are coarse, animalistic people. This is just my theory. However, the fact that you didnt understand it was offensive means that you didn't mean for it to be offensive. THEREFORE, I think both of you should just let this one go as an innocent misunderstanding.

do i have to make myself anymore clear for you to understand ???

I believe the correct saying is "eating any living thing that has its back pointed toward the sky." Since people in China eat insects and worms too and they either either have more than four legs or don't have any at all and not to mention snakes.

are you chinese? I just wanted to know if you had any first hand proof.

I am Chinese, I've been to restaurants that serve scorpions, and many Chinese people I know drink wine made from snakes and rats. There are also meals known as "dragon, tiger, phoenix" that is basically better sounding names for snake, cat, and chicken.

guess what because china is soo populated that one percent might be the little viallge u stayed at and by the way am chinese and i lived there and my family spead all cross china so there for am pretty sure i been to more cities in china and u have no right to tell me am wrong after all is my opoinon and u cant prove that more then one percent of ppl eats cats and dogs and even if they do whats wrong with it ?? god never said ppl only can eat certain animals if everyone think eating cats and dogs are sick then they shouldnt eat cows and pigs just cuz they are not as cute that does not mean we have the rights to kill them is like me treating a ugly kid or a fat kid bad just of their looks. every living thing are trying to surive in the world and when i say one percent is just a round up and even if is one percent that is still alot considering there are soo many ppl in china to begin with

Just because your "family" choose not to eat that particular type of food doesn't make eating it a minority. You're also the only one that is associating the statement as "Chinese people eat everything" as derogatory. You claim that I cannot prove that more than 1% of people in China, which is ridiculous, but where is your proof that less than 1% of people do? I'm pretty sure you've asked all 99% of the population whether they eat dogs or cats right?
Your statistical analysis is obviously fucked up, since you claim that just because I've seen people eat dogs and cats means that the places I've been are the only places that eat them. That statement is retarded beyond all belief. Once or twice can be a coincidence but more than a few times there tends to be a pattern.

How many rural areas have you been to and how many poorer towns have you visited? They are popular in almost all the rural areas I've been to. There are also many places I've been to where edible crickets are sold in market places, don't tell me those people would eat crickets but would refuse to eat a dog.

I like to reemphasize, nobody is talking about cruelty to dogs and cats, only you're bitching about it.

frist of all when i say my family i mean i went to alot of diiferent cities and stuff since they are all spread out in china thats y i mentioned my family, second when did i ever told u that chinese people eats everything ?? , third y would u feel ridicluose that 1 % of people in china eats cats and dogs ?? have u been there or can u show me some prove ?? listen to ur own little comment there , fourth i did say is my opinon do u know what that is ?? is what i think i dont have to do any reasearch now if today i say it is a fact that only 1 % of chinese ppl eats cats and dogs then u can bitch about it , fifth just because the place u went to eats cats and dog that does not mean more then 1 % do u know how much is one percent of the chinese population?? it is around 13,218,518 am pretty sure the little viallage u went to cant have more then this number and lets say they all eat cat and dogs there there for u cant prove me wrong and i cant prove u right sixth like i said before is my opoinon there for is not an analyisis i didnt have that much time on my hands to do research and u cant really prove me wrong and last yeah maybe i misstype alot of worrds but at least i can read there for this whole paragraph u just wrote is just didnt prove anything and i knowtist a patteren too u just keep on repeating the same thing over and over again even tho i already express my view several time and u just seems like u dont get the idea

p.s. what is ur whole point again cuz i really dont understand what r u trying to argue with me about when u reply write down what u trying to prove so i will know what is ur point

You are not making any sense. Do you even understand what the hell you are typing? Read the fucking post before talking, I said I have been to China, MANY TIMES. When did I say your family eats cats and dogs? Your reading comprehension is shit.

Little village eh? I'm pretty sure you either didn't read my post or is too stupid to understand it. You're the one repeating the same crappy argument over and over again, that I can't "prove more than 1%" of the Chinese people eat cats and dogs. You're also repeating that ridiculous assumption that the places I went are the ONLY places that eats those. I've told you many times, I've been to more than one "little" village, and of all the places I went there are much more than "1%" of the people that like eating cats and dogs. You're just too stupid to understand.

Let me tell you once again, just because you don't see it happening doesn't mean it does not exist. The poorer people are the main ones that eat cats and dogs because they are pretty available and cheap, although some of the middle class people still like eating it. It is very common to eat it in rural areas. How hard is that to understand?

Is it really my fault that people interpret it that way? I don't care about how others think so deep and connect eating everything with barbarianism. I merely stated a fact, period. That was all there was to it. It was up to anyone to interpret it in any way they wish. I didn't overstate, nor did I overstate. And I felt displeased with the fact that people are flaming me for merely stating a fact.

Lol CC

The only induction that they've interpreted that way is because you set an inference and judged all of Chinese people by saying "Did you know that Chinese people eat anything that has four legs?". As a patriotic Chinese, I view that as an indictment to "some" of the ways Chinese people eat today.

Kunming is a city....

People from a province move around and many times keep their traditions. That's also one of the examples, other provinces or cities include people that eat other sorts of unique foods. While I'm sure not all Chinese people eat "unique" food, it doesn't make it an extreme minority. Many rural areas still treat anything edible as food because of the poor environment.

Answer to your question: Read my post (above this post), and if you are the same person, then don't reply please.

Ok, Im confused. this really is my only username on CR. I promise. I'm not peacelovearies or any other person. I'm not sure if u were telling ME not to respond or someone else, but I really didn't mean to flame and i wanted you to know that, even if I have to risk declining your request. Also, my post wasn't in the chain of quotes so i wasn't wondering if you missed it because I tried to explain why it might have been offensive. I'm sorry if you have already read it, but in case you didn't here it is again.

I hate to jump into the crossfire, I do think both of you should calm down.
1. Im not sure how am i supposed to refute this "point". Uh, i really wouldnt know if u've been to china or not and its not my decision as to what you are offended by. So i guess i have to agree with this point.

2. This thread is about china, but im not sure why anyone has to "target" anyone else. Also, I got the impression the thread was supposed to be more about China's political policies as opposed to its people and their eating habits, not that I don't like talking about food. I might be wrong, but the thread topic was a little broad, so thats just how I and I'm guess Meglovesya, took it.

4. Good to know. Neither have I.

5. Ok, a little off topic, but lets not get personal about this. And just curious, but how did "you can't spell" suddenly become "you're a fat bitch"? come on now, that's not very nice. Lets all just calm down and discuss stuff, but dont get personal with the comments.
