No doubt In the next 10 years or so China will have the number 1 economy. It's only a matter of time. For sure the U.S. knows it too.

If I remember correctly, at one time there was a brutal law imposed as a way to keep the population down. Baby girls were often left to die. They couldn't work and make money for the family, they couldn't fight in the wars, they could only have more babies.

There are places in the middle east that continue this practice. What century do we live in now?

Afaik, the Chinese one-child policy mandated just one child for each couple. One-child families were given social benefits, while those who had more children had to pay fines. (Any stories you've heard of the Chinese government forcibly aborting fetuses and sterilizing couples are false; if they happened, it's not condoned by the government.)

Also, there is no discrimination as to the child's gender in the one-child policy. However, in parts of China, especially rural areas, boys are prized more than girls. But it's also possible that the girls are being raised secretly, unknown to the government. The situation has led to a greater number of boys than girls in some parts of the country.

There is nothing wrong with communism if its done right. In most cases it is not, thats why it has such a bad rep.

China sets up its 1 child policy because of over population,if china did not do that the future generations will suffer unemployment,overcrowding, shortage of housing and fierce competiton among themselves.The chinese economy will also be greatly effected.China now has a population of 2billion, imagine what would be the population of china if it did not set up the 1 child policy.Its is very important that we understand the situation.The communist goverment now has faced alot of obtascle to get what china is today.I study china history and i know that if the nationalist had win against the CCP much sufferings will be brought apon the chinese peasents(which makes up of 95% of the then current population)during the 1950s(it was a terrible civil war,ever heard of the long march?)
