That answers your question right there. The anime adaptation has a nasty habit of either ending before the manga actually ends, or coming up with loads of filler. Not to mention the anime adaptation is always less violent. No one can say the Berserk anime is as violent as the manga. The art is usually better, too.

To answer your question, this form of media is rather popular to those who prefer an in-depth view to a story as opposed to the dragging and often reworked anime counterpart. The manga version is oftentimes more detailed and descriptive than that of the anime, not to mention that the art of some exceeds that of their animated versions.

I would think anime would be more popular due to the fact that the new generations are just becomming more and more, lazy... Yes, I will go with lazy.
Why read a real book, when you can read manga, why read manga, when you can watch anime!
Obviously that's a grouse over generalisation and your right, there will be alot of people with their own personal preference as well, but part of that preference might be that they are lazy.

Well, it may due with the fact that a lot of anime's suck. And, you can read a full manga in less then 10 minutes and learn if it sucks but with a anime.. man, you got to sit there and watch it.
When naruto started to suck, i gave up on it. When i went back to, i went back to the manga only because.. the manga's are usually much better!

Manga can usually cover a lot more stuff an anime cannot, perhaps given the time, subject matter, and budget constraints when comparing the two. Most of the anime I've watched don't show near as much detail about the characters' lives, thoughts, and reasons/motives compared to the source manga. My $0.02.  |

cause the mangas usually have better art, and you can see the author's original intention (instead of parts made up by anime producers). Also everything in mangas are usually more in depth. That's why I like mangas better than animes, though I love the openings/endings in animes x] literally addicted to cool music+cool motion pictures

Manga is better most of the time, like 99%.
The only anime that's better than the manga is Saber Marionette J; that manga is pure fanservice.

Yup. Its kind of annoying to be dedicated to an anime to suddenly find out that for a couple months, all we're going to be seeing is stuff not related to the real story. With Bleach, it was overly annoying.
