Manga is popular as opposed to western comics it has a category for every fans taste (as opposed to just superhero comics)

I enjoy manga for the same reason I enjoy comic books, and novels. I love to read, and manga is reading with kick ass art work to help your imagination engineer a better atmosphere. And when reading I am in complete control of character tone, and vocal attitude. The act of intimating the story through imagination creates a bond that is special to reading for enjoyment. Manga is just fun reading.

I generally dislike the "Shining Hero of Justice" theme, therefore I dislike pretty much of the Superman stuff; I'am always on Lex'es side^^

We have our own preferences. People like Manga. Some people like Anime.
I only watch Anime when it is consisted of Action and needed a lot of effects because they make it more awesome.

Why I like reading manga:
-I don't have much time to watch the anime.
-No fillers.
-I can whip out my phone or a tankoban and read the whole thing in an hour.
-I'll know the spoilers beforehand.
-Its a habit.
-It helps me practice my drawing style.
-The flashbacks are usually quicker to get through and doesn't take 5 episodes to complete.

Why I like watching anime:
-Animation.
-SOUNDTRACK.
-It really depends on the anime. I'll consider watching if the animation looks good, and the voice acting is decent, and if the feel is genuine, like SAO; or if its a parody, like Rock Lee: SD. If its a parody, then i'll watch it for the same reasons I watch 30 Rock: its funny.

Why is manga so popular? It's simple. Visual storytelling in Manga is very cinematic. It doesn't need pretty character design or detailed background art to do good storytelling.

It's not just wide diversity of subject matters, but their effective visual storytelling method which makes it easy to convey author's ideas to audience. So anyone could understand what's happening in the story with minimal dialogue.

I kind of tend to think of manga as a mixture between novels and cinema. You have the great story telling mixed with visuals.

Honestly I like anime more than manga. The motion shows what's going on better for me since I have bad eyesight in the first place, and then the music... THE MUSIC!!! The inflection in the voices is really good too, hell without the music and the voice acting Gurren Lagann wouldn't be as epic. Animation is always a plus in my book if it's done well. I wont even read a manga if the art is bad so why watch a poorly animated anime.
I read manga too, like bakuman, Say I Love You, TWGOK, and plenty of others. It's not that I'm too lazy to read manga, just i enjoy the entire media experience of anime over something like manga.

When shows end and you are sad. You go to the manga (if that show has one) for comfort. That's a reason, but not my reason for reading. I just love it.

I enjoy watching animation more than reading but that's just me. There are a lot of things in an animation that a manga can't do I personally like action in animation better than if it is in a manga.

i like MANGA because i can keep following to the end my favorites titles that didn't get a continuation or another season in the anime...thats the case of 1 of my favorites like AIR GEAR..well thats my guess of why MANGA its so popular...
