Sorry for talking about this here, but because some of you are artists like me, maybe we can discuss this. I might bring this up in the La Corda d'Oro forums, too. =,= But for now, it's just here...

Yesterday, someone gave me a link to a Deviantart page, saying that the person in there is really talented in DRAWING La Corda d'Oro artworks. I thought, why not try and take a look? Then when I saw her "drawings"... BOOM! It's like a bomb just blew up in front of my eyes!

All of her "artworks" are COPIES from the original La Corda d'Oro artworks! I won't mind if they're not EXACT COPIES... For example, if you see an artwork and you like it, and you DRAW it your own way... They might look alike, but NOT EXACTLY ALIKE... Maybe the faces you draw are longer, maybe the clouds you create are bigger... BUT her "artworks" are EXACT COPIES of the originals... She wrote that she colored them all using COLORING PENCILS, and yes they're all colored using pencils beautifully. But ALL THE LINES are from the original artworks... Hell... If I take a ruler right now, I'm sure the scale will be the same with the originals! It's as if she PRINTED the artwork on a piece of paper and COLORED the print using coloring pencils! There are NO DIFFERENCE between hers and the originals!

Let me show you one copy of her work and the original work :

HER WORK :

THE ORIGINAL :

I wonder if you can call her a thief? I think she's just a thief... Because in DeviantArt, all of your art should be created solely by you. You can't copy other people's artworks and make them yours! What do you think? I want to bring this p in the Corda forums but I'm afraid the "person" is in there. Someone told me that she also uploaded this "artworks" to Minitokyo... =.=;; I admire her skill in COLORING BUT SHE STEALS THOSE ARTWORKS! If she's so talented why not draw them herself?? Even though they're not going to be the exact copy, at least she draws them herself!

I find that scary that someone can just draw almost or even EXACTLY like the original. O_O

For one thing, it should be IMPOSSIBLE unless you traced, the original creator drew it, etc. But like... exact line, proportion, and etc shouldn't be... >< I can respect her skills, but I would love to see this person's ORIGINAL works and non-fanart, or at least her own style. I dislike seeing someone copying other people's styles, to be honest. =P
I have to admit though, I envy her coloring skills XD

And I agree with you, if she is so skilled, then I would love to see her ORIGINAL works instead of copies, unless she's a just a master of copying. >=T

Well, yeah~ I think she can color beautifully, but how about drawing? If she can only color, she should say that in her Deviantart, but instead, she doesn't! She doesn't even credit KOEI as the original owner of the arts... =.= And the people commenting on her Deviantart page, some of them don't even know the series! She has started copying Neo Angelique Abyss' CG arts as well, and I'm sure Harukanaru will be next! I will KILL HER if she does that! ><

Hmmmm.....i get what you mean here. Well i for one am teaching myself how to draw....and my first drawings are copies of original artworks....and when drawing them i did try to draw exactly as i saw them....but i think exact copying is impossible without tracing. The drawings i did where i copied the artwork exactly i don't actually upload as for me they aren't my artwork....they are copies that i used to teach myself....so the picture above i would call a copy. Its fine if you state it on deviant that you have copied another picture....but to not state that is kinda bad, its like your stealing it. Most of my drawings as you can see on cr are drawings of characters from animes....but i have started to add my own style....though i'm not quite there yet....but i still always state what character they are. But i also do draw my own original characters (even if they are a bit poor at moment =P) I think that its fine to 'copy' artwork of a person you admire as many books say its the best way to learn....but you should state this on your artwork. Tracing.....now this i get angry about....tracing is not 'your' artwork, if you have traced it to colour it then to me that is fine as long as you state this....but i'm afraid to say that the drawing above is way to close to the original....pretty much exact that i would say that i'm 60% sure that it has been traced. This person has an awful lot of skill with colouring...which i am pretty envious about, but to not state that she has only coloured the drawing is to me stealing. Anyways....i've ranted a lot...i apologise

no, you're not. i'm happy to hear that "ranting"... =.= i can't trace anything since i don't have a tracing board... you need one to trace, don't you? i usually try to draw as close to the originals, but i always end up making them look like clamp characters. lol... anyway, yeah... i tried talking her, and ask her, that she states in her artworks that she traced the lines from the original artworks... but so far, she hasn't replied me, and i think she has even hid my comments... =.= what makes me angrier is that THIS PERSON is from the same country as me!

I don't like liars! =D We should report it!! But it is possible to draw exact without tracing, it just takes forever. =3

I think it's possible to draw exactly the same as the original artworks. I saw many people who draw so well that they can copy any pictures, and sometimes you can't tell the differences between their copies and the original ones. Anyway, I'm strongly against tracing =__= A good artist do well with her hands and won't need tracing or things...
Some fanarts and their original

The artist is a Chinese girl and she's a real talent

WHOA~~~~~~ *mouth opens* THOSE ARE REALLY GOOD! ^^ BUT! As you can all see, she's NOT tracing. Those fanarts are NOT exactly alike... The proportions and scales are NOT the same with the originals (longer necks, longer fingers, more protruded noses, bigger lips.. etc). That's what I was saying... The COPIER up there (the one I'm so mad about!) DID copy the artwork EXACTLY by tracing, since ALL the scales and proportions are the same. Even every TINY HAIR is the same! >< In those fanarts you just posted, the hairs look the same, but if you look closely, there are bits and pieces that are not the same. ^^ So those are real fanarts. But I still prefer people who draw by themselves, you know, CREATE a new picture based on the same characters. ^^ THAT I can really respect!

Strong sense of justice you have there! =D But you know, the person can purposely modify some lines to make you think that they're original. =)

Yes... Justice for artists... Hehehe... From what you just wrote... "MODIFY" is the key word. Even if it's probably traced from the original the word "MODIFY" suggests a CREATIVITY from the person. ^^ Even though it's not 100%, but still, modifying needs creativity skill! The more modification he/she makes, the more creative he/she is! Right? ^^;;

I can't blame you for the strong sense for artists' Justice. Haha, I'm like that too. >=]
I hate tracers/tracing/etc. It's not you doing the actual drawing, it's just...you being like a scanner or something. I can't trace worth squat! XD I cannot trace whatsoever... Even if I did, my hands would move on their own and do some sort of modification to the drawing. And Nicki-sama is right, drawing from looking at an image is a good technique to teach yourself how to draw. That's how I teach myself different poses and whatever, though I keep my own style. However, the person we're talking about here, scares me. If she did not trace, then that's good talent, but not giving credit to original design/copyright/etc., then that's plain thievery(?) She NEEDS to give credit and at the very least, state who the character is -_-'

In other words, I HATE tracers, people who steal other's credits, and etc. How would you feel if someone stole your drawing form online and stated that they drew it, or that it was their very own original character? It happened to me A LOT of times before T_T And trust me, it feels like you're a dried up shitake mushroom.

Also, Sanama is AMAZING! O_O Anyway, I'm done. =P

Waaaiiii!!! So kawaii!!! Very good drawing =) I agree with what everyone has said....i'm glad i don't have the trouble of people stealing my artwork lol (i wouldn't want to steal it so i'm pretty sure others wouldn't =P) I like drawing characters from animes even though i don't really have much creativity in me lol....so i do end up copying drawings....but i think i'm starting to add my own style to my fanarts now =P I have drawn some original characters too if you look at my deviant: http://nicki-22.deviantart.com/ Comments would be appreciated =)
