Only dubs I could stand we're Trigun(<333333) and Hellsing, others are just plain horrible.

Dubbed Renji sounds like a faggot, only reason I like Ichigo's voice is because it's same the guy as Vash the Stampede in Trigun, who actually has tallent.

English dubs suck... but on those few occasions (Gundam Wing or Digimon) they were done well. They just need to stop casting people who suck and cast people who can actually portray the characters they are voicing more accurately...

I'm willing to bet a lot of the fans who hate dubs so much wouldn't be that way if they had a firm grasp of the language and mannerisms of Japanese.

I can't stand (most of) the english dubs on Naruto and InuYasha. They make me want drive random sharp objects into my head. It's not how they speak, it's just the way they sound. Annoying.

The reason most people hate dubs is because of what 4Fags and NOTfunimation take out of the episodes because they are scared of offending people, I live in america and all I got to say is our FCC is a bunch of pusses. :/

See? That's why anime should never be dubbed, because millions of people will just bash them over and over again and if you speak english and don't like english dubs, you must hate the sound of your own voice.

ooh another one of those dub vs sub debates again ....interesting i'll join in too.....

well in my opinion i don't mind dubs only if they are done EXTREMELY well and by that i mean that the voice actors are able to express genuine character emotions and not sounding corny or false and with the voice actually synchronizing with character's lips. I suppose dubs make it easier for non-japanese speaking people as they can focus on image rather than both text and image. But an example i felt that was poorly dubbed was Bubblegum crisis 2040, my ears nearly bled from the cheesiest American dialogue ever and over-the-top voice dramatics. The voices didn't even suit the characters it sounded like a bunch of old ladies voicing younger characters! wtf?!
Most of the time i would choose to watch in subbed formats to be able to feel that genuine authentic japanese expressions. of course subs aren't always that great either sometimes you can't even read the damn text! so in summary i say ok to dubs if they are brilliantly done.

Personally I hate dubs but I would rather watch Sonic and DBZ in English. Their Japanese voices are WAY too high.

reason why dub are needed 1) they bring more people into the anime fold, the more people that watch anime, the more $$ that are spend, and the more $$ that are spend the more likely we are able to see new/more anime!!

I personally own over 400 titles of anime, and 3/4 have english as an option, why?
so when I load them out to a friend, they can sit back and just soak it up without
having to worry if they are reading it right. (btw- a LOT of sub, is done so wrong, miss place words, wrong spelling, words with no spacing inbetwen, ect)

What I do dislike about subbing is it seems that 90% of all animes (in the US)
use the same 10 voice actors

IMHO some good dubs are Kare Kano, Gunslinger Girls, FMP (Chris Patton, and Luci Christian bring out so much for Sousuke, and Kaname) and NG:E (my 1st anime, Tiffany Grant, made me fall so much in lust....errr..love with her...errr ..i mean Asuke, by the time I finish watching it)

I wonder if in Japen, they are having the same topic about the Simpson?

you were saying how sometimes subs are wrong, do you honestly thing dubs are right too?!?
people like dubs because they're too lazy to read.
I watched Happy Feet dubbed in Japanese, I loved it more than the american version.
People have their own views.
I personally HATE dubbed Anime.
When i heard Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach, Naruto, ect on dubbed, i felt like breaking the TV.
DUBs SUCKS,
SUBS RULE.....!!!

seriously, the Dubs have no feeling, when i watch the originals, i feel it. like i can imagine it.

I would 100% agree that dubs can be wrong too, but alot of that is due to translation problem, its got to be a pain in the a$$ to try and get a lip sinc
match, and the same time get the point across.
sometimes a couple of words can mean whole paragraphs in english.
and we americans speak less words per minute than most counties.
(it's true) but what I am saying is if you want to see anime in the States
You're going to have to "put" up with subs, but lucky all the boxes set that
I have bought (400+) come with dub, and the Japenesse voice actor as well
so we both can have are cake and eat it too

DUBS are HELPFUL too you know! It's easier to listen while watching the show.. Rather than having the hassle to read the subs fast then see what's going on in what you're watching.

(it's not because I'm too lazy to read subs, but we have the choice to choose what is more practical and what makes us enjoy what we are viewing. )

I've got a friend who I've ordered to hit me when I complain about dubs. Sure some dubs are crap and frankly most are a bit annoying if you've seen them with subs first but dubs introduce new people to anime. I got in to anime when I was like 5 and wasn't going to read any subs at that point. As much as people knock them they play an important part.
