Arx and punk are correct. Japanese has multiple writing systems. Tons of Kanji to memorize YAY! FUN! Only not <_<. There are also certain ways in which you must speak to others. Which I do not feel like explaining right now. I could go on a rant.

So true Same for Evangelion dubbed. And the classic Gundams, and Hayao Miyazaki films(maybe not the new ones), Akira, the list is infinite. I still appreciate the few good dubs immensely however.

At this rate the Devil has already stormed Heaven and taken God hostage. That's why we keep having such bad dubs.

The english dub on Evangelion is one of the greatest travesties ever committed upon mankind. Apparrently, the team who translated it spent a whole lot of effort on doing the translation justice, but I guess their budget must have run out before they got a chance to get any voice actors who wouldn't make my ears bleed.
At any rate, I'll take a subbed version over a dub any day--Not only do I not have to run the risk of melting my brain, but I can also enjoy the inflection and character of the original voice actors, while trying in vain to understand the japanese dialogue and colloquial phrases blazing by me.

English is a hard second laguage. You don't ogten have words that sound the same and have different meanings. Think about this. If English is soo easy, how come you have to take it for all 4 years of High School? Back to the topic. Has anyone considered original voices being bad? I've heard a few. I mean a lot.

I'd rather not have to focus so much on reading the subs myself but if an anime is subed and i want to watch it i'll deal with it. I like dubed better though.

I think that certain anime, such as AKIRA, simply cannot be fully appreciated without seeing them in their original undubbed form (AKIRA was one of the first animes to record the dialogue before the animation was done, thus giving the voice actors greater freedom. The animation was then lip-synched using a computer. Pretty nifty, huh?)

i think the dubbed version of naruo is good because like every1 has been saying, the voices fit there roles, the only bad part of the dubbed version, it's censored....

absolutely hate english dub. apologies to those who dont mind it but eng dubs are appalling...they are nothing like the original voice..the eng language cannot express what is said in japanese and id rather learn some japanese whist watching anime then be shocked at how plain the english language is.

I agree. I find it much more rewarding and immersive to try my hand at learning the language while I watch.
