Dead or Alive Trilogy

Which of the DOA films is your favorite? Mine is the second film.

The first one of course

all of them were great in different ways, but i liked the first one the most.

this movie was supposed to be a genric cops and gangster movie.. even though many complain that most of it was slow, it was supposed to be realistic (well mostly) to develop the two main characters and to give more weight to their confrontation. the opening was one of the best openings ever. instead of following the script, numerous scenes of assassinations, he condenses it to a music video montage.. i like how he shows Ryu and Jojima within their family units, at the beginning of the film, at two ends of a spectrum. and as their loved ones get killed off to the end, they meet at zero, which is the end of everything, which is the awesome awesome ending. miike really makes boring shit awesome. awesome

i loved dead or alive 1

but there is this one moment in D O A final near the end just before they have the final fight and leading up to the fight which it beautiful that shows all of the three movies and i see all of them for the brilliance and finally get the dead or alive trilogy.

this is how i understood it:

D O A 1 = there real lives before they die.

D O A 2 birds = follows them after they die there souls go back home, hence the wings and dream like feel.

D O A FINAL = there bodies are found and they are made into robots .

ehhhh i like this....now it makes much more sense...i kinda couldnt grasp the meaning of the movies entirely...but what you said makes aloooot of sense...

I realllyyy like the second one most...
