1. Story and plot to grab the player so he can keep coming back to find out what happens next.

2. Gameplay so the player can have a fun and memorable experiance. Side quests and extra puzzles etc to drive away from the repetiveness helps.

3. Good Graphics on the system the game is running on. Example if I buy a ps3 rpg I dont want ps2 graphics. I wanna see how beautifull the game is.

4. Good music to make the game feel epic.

if i were to choose, it would be gameplay, because thats what makes a good game at the end of the day. You play games to escape from reality no?
Want a good story? read a book
Want to see nice graphics? watch a film
Want good gameplay? play a game

I belive people that their first games were between final fantasy 7 and after are spoiled by graphics........
I would spend hours playing street fighter, earthbound and clasic mario games

I would say good gameplay....Fun to play

Has to be fun and challenging so good gameplay but one thing I need that doesn't seem to be mentioned often is good controls cos otherwise a game can piss me off for all the wrong reasons. And Graphics aren't AS important (I still love playing some old snes classics) but they do help add atmosphere, immersion and fun in some games like Crysis and Resident evil 4 (come on pixelated zombies just wouldn't be remotely scary now would they)

good graphics good battle sequences rpg maybe

it has to be exciting. It can't be too hard that you can never beat it and it can't be too easy that even I could be able to beat in a couple of days. hehe.

I'm not sure about other people. but I felt a game with a very good storyplot is enough. I would gladly play a Novel game if the storyplot is really good. nevertheless, I desire great battle system and good Graphics in games at times too~~

Games are a matter of taste! The perceived value of a game depends greatly on the individual preferences of those who play it. Some players prefer games of luck; others prefer games of tactics; still others enjoy communicating with fellow players. Then there are those who like games based on reaction, manual skills, or memory, etc. But whether a game is considered good or of little appeal does not depend entirely on personal preferences. There are also objective criteria that must be considered:
A game should be rich in surprises. Repetition in sequence, progress, and events should be strictly avoided. The title, theme, format, and graphics of a game must give a unified impression.

A good game will stay with us all our lives.

A good game makes us long to play it again.
