Personally, mine is FLCL. Perhaps it's because I watched the dubbed (and I despise dubs), or for the fact that it just wasn't ALLLLL that great. It felt really rushed. If anything, it deserved a lot more. While some bits were interesting, I don't understand the whole "watch it twice" thing. It's pretty simple. It jumped around too much, as if it couldn't sit still. I disliked every character in the show as well.

Bleh, anyways, I friggin hated FLCL.

It was more or less an experiment on Gainax's part. It was supposed to be like that anyway. Why do you despise dubs, just curious.

Ah, well that clarifies a bit of it. I bet if I watched it again with the mindset of "this is just a trial" then it may be cooler. I thought the premise and overall "moral" of the story to be quite fascinating, but poorly executed in the end.

As to why I despise dubs, it's mostly just preference. I don't like how FUNimation uses the same people OVER AND OVER again, but I guess someone has to do it. Really, the only dubs I like are Trigun, Chobits, and Cowboy Bebop. I can't stand anything else with voice overs. I kinda think that having dubs can get rid of the original emotion the voice actor was trying to convey, not get the vocal patterns the same, possibly causing a different verbal tone. Also, I love the Japanese language, and think it's absolutely beautiful.

I'm not sure what your post means.. Are you sick and tired of people that ruin the show because they're overzealous fanboyish behavior ruins it for you? (because if that is the case I TOTALLY feel where you are coming from)

Or are you saying people misinterpret an anime because they don't understand that the characters are "sick and tired of people"?

Because if it is the latter, that does not make the anime any less terrible in my eyes.

Also, I don't think Light was "sick and tired" of people, if that is what you meant. The real thing is he thinks he's better than everyone else. That is literally his primary character trait. He has a god complex, which is why he believes when he kills people, it is justified.

Naruto - ok first, but plain long and boring. I am not that interested at ninjas either.
Bleach - It was good first but then..
Mermaid melody - It was so cliche, no fun at all.
One peice - Not my thing.
Rosario vampire - uh..

I just don't like them, i dont hate them.

haha sorry, im tired of people, mainly cuz of the way they think of those anime. you know a poem has multiple meaning kind of thing. and almost all those people won't rationalize with other ways of looking at it. but i guess that the by product of the fandom kingdoms.

im not the kind of person that hates an anime cuz people are obsessed with it.

i think despising dubs has become something standard, from the first anime you watch online and reading the comments about how subs are better.

I can see where you're coming from there. I think it is annoying when people refuse to look at subtext and metaphor and just take things at face value. I mean hell, I knew SEVERAL people when I was in high school, that no matter how I tried to explain to them, could not understand how "Animal Farm" was an allegory for communism and socialism. They just wouldn't accept it.

And I think by the same token, but other side of the coin, it bothers me when people read TOO MUCH into something. I mean, there's looking at subtext, and then there's just plain seeing something that isn't there. When people do this though, it's usually an attempt to make something seem more valid than it really is, and you usually see this with things that are bad (like books, or films).

You know how it is, you might be criticizing something and someone will say "no man, you just don't get it. Harry Potter is not just a boy wizard story, Harry Potter is CLEARLY an homage to Merlin and these events reference.." and it just goes on and on I mean, hey, I don't insult people for what they like, I just can't stand it when some people try to coerce me into liking it.

I haven't really taken a liking to Naruto... But I don't really give a fuck what people watch... It's their own goddamn business...

haha you kinda lost me but i still understand, not sure on the take i should approach your last paragraph.

its not even the subtext that it bothers me, they don't have an opinion themselves. they may have, but its stuff they read on forums and such, then they all repeat it out of their asses. at that point it seems more like gossip that your talking about rather than your own opinions.

Yeah, that's why I tend to avoid "One Piece" and Saint Seiya forums. I love both of the stories, but I know they both have dedicated fanbases that just endlessly parrot each other. And I refuse to let them ruin those series for me. It's always the same too : " GUYS LUFFY IS SO EPIC OMG DID YOU SEE HOW HE KNOCKED OUT LUCCI!" , " I think Nami is in love with Zoro!" " I'm jealous of Luffy, if I had Hancock I would worship her", "Guys where can I find one piece hentai!" and so on and so on

...it's just so very emotionally draining and it even takes the joy out everything. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to have intelligent discussion with some people about series I love, but when you have something that has such a broad audience, well, you know what they say, the dumbest ones always speak the loudest.

people enjoy different things than you do and not everyone has the same mindset is the answer your looking for. I personally love the ova's for kiss x sis for what they are raunchy ass fun about two older step sisters that want to bang there younger step brother, it is very juvenile sick/disgusting and I love it. However the same reason I love it others hate it is called forming a opinion so you can think for yourself. Now let me ask a question do you hate something based on an online review you read without watching the show, or have you actually seen the material yourself to form this valid opinion??

Naruto and Bleach
I tried watching both [subbed and dubbed] but couldn't get into it after many eps
it was boring to me and yes I have trouble figuring out why so many like both so much
of course if you like it then go a head and watch, it's not like you need approval, I'm just saying how "I" feel about it
