Some of my favorites are... La Corda D'oro, Ouran High School Host Club, Code Geass, Death Note, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, and Yu-Gi-Oh!

La Corda D'oro and Ouran are really great if you love reverse harems. They're hilarious (especially ouran) and really cute. La Corda D'oro is a lot more reverse harem-ish than Ouran as the main character interacts with ALL of the guys. In Ouran, Haruhi only really will end up with two of the six. La Corda D'oro is also really nice if you love music, classical music, or play an instrument :D. And they're full of bishiess!!

Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin are great action animes, there is lots and lots of fighting. They're also hilarious, but can be pretty serious and tearjerking at times.

Death Note is a great psychological anime. It has soo much suspense and the detective powers of some of the characters *coughLcough* are amazing. Its also cool that the point of view is of the villain (its arguable whether he is the villain or not) and also as the series progresses, its not like other animes where the main character keeps getting more weapons, and stuff in their arsenal.

Code Geass is similar to Death Note in the way that the main character isn't fighting with his body but with his mind. He also has a power like Death Note's main character, but very different and much less powerful. Code Geass is very strategic, but it has lots of action too. Lots of mecha action that is . There is also some romance, but its not very important to the show. This show has the most suspense of any show I have EVER seen.. At some parts it seems predictable but then suddenly something you would never think of suddenly happens. Almost EVERY episode has a cliff-hanger. And just when you think someone's defeated, it turns out you're completely wrong.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is great, though its directed at a younger audience than these other animes. Its very dramatic and funny and really fun to watch. There is a lot of strategy in this too, though not exactly in a life or death way as with Death Note and Code Geass. The duels are really fun to watch and it's great that you can get cards and duel yourself, using skills you use in the show. The characters are really great too, and some have very...interesting appearances *coughYugi'sblonde/black/purplehaircough*

So.... wow.....that was loong... Anyway, WATCH!

I never thought I had a favorite anime. Fav at the moment sure, but of all time, no. As I made an anime seen listl, I realized Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo, is as about as close to being my favorite as any other series. It's Dumas' novel done in a creative and stylized way. Below I've cut and pasted a review I did on Netflix, which is also where I watched it. I think it's on CR if not it's on animecrazy.net.

Review:
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo is simply spectacular. It's addictive, entertaining, and wonderfully creative. It's a retelling of Dumas' story with some great alterations that brings it to the year 5053 where the moon has been colonized and space ships have taken the place of airplanes. Artistically, it's beautiful. The animation is really something to behold. It's not bright with intricately designed backgrounds like Tekkon Kinkreet, but it is equally as stunning. There's an odd and somewhat ugly use of photoshopped textures and patterns along with computer generated animation set upon a 3D background. They can make you feel dizzy if you pay too much attention to them. At first I couldn't help but stare at the non-matching patterns in the clothes & hair that didn't move normally with the characters. Had the story not captured me I would never have watched the next episode. The more drawn into the story I became, the more interesting & beautiful the animation becomes. They even went so far as to have fashion designer Anna Sui design "special costumes." Plus, the Count's home is outrageous! The acting is very good. I watched this on site so I had no choice but to watch it subbed. However, the cast is very good and includes veteran voice actors like Johnny Yong Bosh and Tony Oliver. Like Gilgamesh, it's not mainstream and will not fit everyone's taste, but if you're a fan of any sort of animation, you do yourself a great disservice by not giving Gankutsuou a chance.
