18-18.3 (I'm not sure if I'm 5'5 or 5'6 xP)

and I hate to say it, but I kind of agree with Trevor on obesity. I absolutely hate it when fat people complain about their weight and do nothing to combat it. As a whole, fat people just disgust me! They're the reason they took soda and honey buns out of schools, pizza, and now even chips. I do have a few friends who are to say the least "obese", but I still can't help criticizing them (though not aloud) for their lack of self control or at least motivation to lose weight!

about 21.8 <<look at me though : )

highly overweight & obese people are seriously disgusting, physically its gross, & the amount of lazieness, self degredation, etc. All i know is that some people need to apply the same amount of energy/effort/discipline (for lack of better word) to exercise & healthy lifestyles as they do to eating, cuz we all know if a fat person's hungery they will find a way to get food, even if its begging.

I think the problem with weight levels in the US is due to the lack of physical education in schools.
I mean when my mother was in school, you ran, you did the hurdles, you played volleyball, you did it all. AND you did it all through school
When i was in school, you had a choice with Gym class. You could join, or you could sit in the bleachers and doo your homework. (or talk to friends in the class etc etc)
When i enlisted in the Army, i had a strange BMI, They had to measure me all over to get a correct bmi since it was saying that i had a BMI of over 35!
My actual BMI at the time was 27, But i was skinny and healthy i ran 10 miles every morning.
Now i'm older, and have had a child, I've gotten quite a little belly (mainly it's skin from the pregnangy - i want a tummy tuck to get rid of it, but can't afford that right now)
And this little BMI calculator says i'm a BMI of 37.
Yet i go to the hip ratio link and my number there is .63.
Go figure one says i'm obese the other says im normal.
I'm thinking it's all in the breasts and the muscle.
I still have much more muscle than the averge girl. - Mainly becuase even though i sit behind a comp all the time, i'm never still - and when i'm NOT on the comp (very rare i know) I do Kendo and Iaido.
I can't run anymore, because of m heel, and i miss it.. oh how i miss it.

Anyway.. i'm sorry i focused on me a little too much there.
The problem lies in the youth.
We are allowing children to use food as a sort of comfort to help them adjust to mommy not being home or daddy not being around, or whatever the mental issue is.
And so we pacify our children by handing them video games to keep them entertained.
We give them hot dogs and Chips with a soda and call it dinner.
I mean come on.
the choices start with the parents and are continued on throughout life.
My parents always told me "clean your plate"
So to this day i will eat everything on a plate.
This is why i'm making smaller portions :)

^*just had a bunch of chips and soda for lunch*
I feel so ashamed, and neglected. Its so true that parents are too busy now.

If you want to keep you child fed you need to go to work. but when your constantly working you aren't there to cook them a decent meal once in a while. Of course when you do get home from a stressful job you won't want to slave over a stove for unappreciative kids that would much rather order pizza.

Well, you’re 15? Chips and soda is completely fine. The average adult should live on a 2000 cal per day diet. A teenagers, however, is substantially larger. Probably a 3000 cal per day, depending on your metabolism. A very active child will need more, a couch potato will need less.

All and all, portions. It doesn’t really matter so much what you eat, as how much you eat. Diet books are fun. *Sigh*

bad eating habits are being passed down, places like McDs is like all over the freaking place. i think binge eating/plain over eating can be part of low self-esteem sometimes or depression. i don't consider it a disease really but not taking care of your body can lead to an unhealthy child. get rid of fast food places is a definite start. better choices that aren't expensive. in nyc near my school most people go for pizza chips and other junk food mainly because 1. they cut our lunch period in half for advisory which is generally pointless other than hearing weekly announcment leaving us with 25 minutes to go get food, come back eat, get to whatever class we have. 2. the good healthy food, that is generally cooked and not swimming in oil is a lot more expensive. 3. the good healthy places that are too expensive are not close enough, or not abundant. so most kids end up having soda and chips or those dollar fries everyday.

i'm guessing that america is a hella lot fatter than other countries.

bmi unfortunately. 23. yes i'm fat and hating it. the BMI is generally a good way to tell if someone is unhealthy/morbidly obese it's only flaw is that for fairly athletic people muscle mass is greater than fatty tissue mass, thus their BMI is greater even if they are perfectly healthy.

guys... DO NOT JUST POST YOUR BMI!
that's not what this thread is ABOUT
Read!

I saw above about blaming it on McDonalds.
Ok .. did McDonalds force you to eat it?
or did you walk willingly through the door and purchase the food?
McDonalds is a company who sold a product.
You can't blame them for the obesity epidemic in the US.
it's rediculous.
