Well for those of you guys who have watched cartoons like The Jetsons or have seen movies like The Fifth Element or Judge Dread. You've probably wondered how cars would look like 30 years from now.

Everyone's saying that in the near future, what we know as "cars" will be replaced by these flying hovercraft-like things. What is your take on it? Do you think it will happen? Would you want to drive one?

I think I'll stay to the ground. Flying cars don't seem very reasonable or practical unless your the only one that has it.

I like my car <3

No, I don't think cars will ever be completely replaced, unless we regress and cars become beyond our means again (think carriages).

Just because for what they are, they're relatively cheap to keep running. a good garage environment can keep a car made 50 years ago running like new (with the replacement of some rotted belts, that can be made out of other things)

So even if we were to become a world of flight, cars would still be used for land based navigation, as the roadways we've built up, define our lifestyle and would take a long time to rot.

i don't want cars to fly...it ruins experiences like being on rough roads, smooth asphalt, etc. and many enthusiasts enjoy that, i'd leave the flying to the airplanes & helicopters...

I doubt cars will ever be anything than on the ground. Not everyone can afford a flying car.

I think for things to change there need to be a whole paradigm shift in the way the public views how the way transportation evolves.

Look how shitty people drive on the ground as it is, once you start putting retarded people in the air, there will be so many fucking wrecks. And in this case, the chance of surviving an air collision and surviving will litteraly be zero, Not to mention the terrorists will be like, WOOOH!!! Suicide building bombing just got 100x easier humanity is screwed!. I mean comeon guys, i have never heard of a fast aircraft getting into a colision with another aircraft and having any survivors. And yes it has happened, and this is with current air traffit which is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY light in comparison to ground trafic. So you start making air traffic on the scale of land traffic and bad stuff with happen just like ground traffic but 100x more frequent.

If cars became flying, in any commericial form, the cars would be more like vtols, and it would only be a liscensed varient to driving a car, because land will always have practical uses, it will never be completely replaced. But i still dont think flying cars will ever happen within any of our lifetimes as the skies are currently for aircraft/planes, and the first "Legalized flying car" would in fact be categorized as a aircraft varient, and in fact not a car. (Think personal beachcraft with a bumper and car bodykit) Which in todays terms is just retarded/inpractical, and anyone who saw an airplane with a car over it would say, wtf is the point when you can just fly a normal plane.

Yeah, no matter how much it looks like a car, if its in the air, it becomes a aircraft. But mass transportation in practical use with aircraft would be so deadly, i mean look how bad it is already, and then escalate that by 900million and so-on, I believe this would just be paradise to terrorists, and because of this, it will never happen, and if it does happen, life will become a struggle of life and death on your daily commute because of jackass flyers, road rage will now be air rage, which will be 100x more deadly, and you can expect many daily suicide bombing on buildings taking tens of thousdands day by day. It would deffinently be a mistake to do something like this.
