Which do u prefer? the original or the american version of the horror movies.

Me? I'll prefer the Asian movies (original rather than the remakes) they (American version) sometimes spoil the tension and somewhat u already knew what happens next or sometimes u may say its better watching the original because of the actors and actresses itself and also the director.....u get used to it. that's my opinion Image

whats yours?

I prefer the original Asian films. They are much more how the writer intended them to be (take Ringu for example). They do seem a lot creepier. Hollywood tends to be too big on loud noises and horrific images to scare the audience, whereas Asian horror films can be both subtle and blatent and it still works.

Strangely, it wasn't a horror film, but I know that the Japanese remade a Hollywood film years ago and it turned out better. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called though.

ASIAN FILMS... waaaay better, the amercians somehow screw up the plot. if not they screw up the scary scenes in the remakes. yea i have to say american remakes makes u understand the story better instead of thinking about it deeply, but its not as fun. and there not good at making good twist so of course the endings r boring and sometimes makes no sense wat so ever.

i think the original asian films are way better than american version. but i was impressed w/ the american remake The Ring and The Grudge. they werent that bad. but i think The Ring remake is stronger than The Grudge remake. The Pulse remake wasnt that bad either. there are much more horrible remakes. like the Shutter remake. oh God especially the One Missed Call. it sucked sooo bad. horrible acting. it wasnt scary at all. the ringtone was annoying and stupid. the original One Missed Call was sooo much better. the ringtone is iconic, i even downloaded it. Kou was a great actress. the ghost was way scarier. the singing teddy bear? gave me chills. it was just so good. The Eye remake wasnt impressive. they just tried made the "grim reapers" scarier by making them pop out of nowhere. they changed the ending. (spoiler)they thought that if jessica ended up saving the people in the traffic, it would make a better ending but it wasnt. its stupid (sorry jessica fans). Angelica Lee gave a much more stronger performance. and shes much prettier and better w/ acting as a blind girl. i also like the grim reapers better and the sort-of tragic ending. so much better than the remake. and i didnt like the idea of changing the nationality of the eye donor. spanish? what the heck? the thai donor gave more chills. but anyways, asian horror has a better way of creating a dreadful and scary mood, building up suspense. thats why it can be lengthy. i just love the asian style. i never get tired of the yureis. asians have such creative ideas. some movies that involve originality are Uzumaki (Spiral/Vortex), Red Shoes, Wishing Stairs, Alone, Recycle, Shutter, Arang, A Tale of Two Sisters, Body #19, Doll Master, and The Eye Trilogy. also asian knows how to add comedy and pop culture into their movies without messing up the horror.
damn, i just appreciate asian horror so much. ^^

I prefer the original Asian Horror film.... their effects its really scary plus its realistic... unlike the American one although im not against them its like they always have a romance effects something that i really dont like they always put that scene although some prefer that but for me I think if it is horror focus on the effects and plot of the movie that will scare the audience... plus if it is american horror movie it doesnt scare me... its like its just a normal ummm how should i put it??? its like its always be seen on other movies... something like that... but thou american horror movie is not great... I think when it comes to killing.... ummm.... disgusting movie... like theres so many blood... american is the best for me... its like for example the hills have eyes series and the hostel series and other thing bloody ones... ehehhehe ♥♥♥

At least asian do not give a main role for hot blond chick, who during almost whole plot is sweaty and somehow suspiciously tense

Completely agree! The thing with Americans is that they think their poorly done, generic Screamers are scary! They don't know true horror! At least we can be thankful that Asian Actors can do what their payed to do.....Act, and act well!

I LOVE the originals... American remakes always mess them up and then it just ruins it for you completely... I have been noticing that American remakes always add at least one sex scene to a horror remake when the original had none and still was better... They just want some meat in it before someone dies... Image

i think the only american remake i can stand is 'The Ring'. The american 'The Grudge' confused me. they stuck more to the big scare-tactics then truly showing the meaning. i didnt bother seeing the second one; from what i heard about it, it sound nothing like Ju-on 2. i think original american horrors are better than their remakes. hollywood should just focus on creating thier own new ideas instead of trying to capitalize on remaking asian horrors.
