Religion: is it too controlling?

what about you guys? do you feel that religion is controlling?i do in most cases

Do you mean do we feel like our church is controlling? Of course I'm controlled by God, I want to follow His will, I want to live my life for Him. However I'm not controlled by my church, my church is only for fellowship and guidance. Everyone has a right to interpret things for themselves, because everyone, but God, is fallible.

i think that organized religion is controlling and i cant stand to be controlled hence i have no religion.now let me define something:i may have no religion but that doesnt mean i have no faith in god. i only disagree with having a religion(being baptised or becoming jewish, muslim, taoist etc...) because i feel once you're in, the church can teach you whatever they want and if you disagree, your soul might be in danger of eternal torture in the afterlife or in the next reincarnation or whatever you believe.i dont have much quarrel with what some churches preach, its just that power to tell some-one they could go to hell for not agreeing like in catholocism.

the only religion i completely disagree with is scientology and that i wont get into because most people know they are a cult. i will not join a chuch until im older and ill pick one that i like. i base my argument off of catholocism because if the pope makes a tenant you dont agree with, you could go to hell and that really bothers me.my mother's religion is very much like cathholocism and im drawn away from it.

what about you guys? do you feel that religion is controlling?i do in most cases

Religion can seem that, and i know because im just a 15 year old kid learning new stuff from Christianity. But there's more into that, these days there are many religions and most people on earth wondered why are they confusing me with such different religions from all corners of the globe. I had that experience and yeah, it was tough. But deep inside of me, i knew there was a God out there and i wanted to find more about the so-called truth. I just wanted to find out the truth and put my trust into it. Thats when Christianity came along.......

My dad told me that he is my god and that I should obey him.

So yes. My god is controlling.

Thats only cause I told him I don't believe in god and ignored him

Yes it is. Too much to enforce beyond human understanding. Certian people also do not do what they preach.

Religion, tricky topic, ne?
I believe it's a bit controlling: like anyone I hate being told what to do and how to live my life, but really, it's for our own good, I suppose. You have to do what you don't always like doing in life, like paying bills, eating greens, y'know.
Pride really is an issue, you need to bow down and admit that you don't know everything, that you can't do everything by yourself.
I have to say I'm not that much of a religious person: I believe in the Christian beliefs and all, but I can't really attach myself to them.

Yea religion is a bit controlling I think, but it all depends on your own opinion too. Im not religious but I strongly believe in my own moral values. I have plenty of friiends who are religious but they don't always agree with there bible. Everyone has there opinion so religion and w/e should be determined by free will, that's what I think.

Religion is for people who are too weak to believe in themselves soo...it probabaly isnt because the peoeple who actually believe in religion..need it to guide them
