i think its a marmite, situation either you like it or hate it. i personally loved it , the crazy megalomaniac reminds of me, i understand his situation and totally agree with him on dealing some damage after what everyone else has done to him, REVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD (and with a big mech if applicable). May he live a short and evil lifestyle in which he is feared till he makes an enemy stronger than him for kicks!

Like the anime so far even though I hate the main character. I think hating the main character actually makes it more interesting.

Well it's one thing to hate a character's actions, but it's another to hate a character entirely. You shouldn't hate the protagonists, because then there's no one to like. You could dislike them, its' easy to dislike a main character, but you don't want to create a main character who gets on everyone's nerves. In the most annoying way possible, every episode.

It's a good rule of thumb when creating characters, to create them either likable or understandable (especially for protagonists. Pure evil demon good or holy angel of light just aren't interesting characters). In Hayase's case he is definitely not likable, and you could maybe understand him, a little. But they're making him seem evil and blood thirsty. And annoying and maniuplative, these just aren't traits that you put in a main character unless you do them extremely well made character. Hayase in the anime is basically like they saw one page of Hayase's dialogue, and designed his character from there.

And it's like they gave up for Emi Kizaki. They wanted to create another female pilot/presence in Judas (they even look alike, I thought she was Kizaki when I first saw her but realized she was someone else when she had her own machina), so it seems like they split her character in half, and the side that is Emi Kizaki got the eraser end of the pencil >.> "Hey let's give her amnesia, and instead of making a strong interesting and unique supporting character we'll make her a stereotypical damsel in distress character who sees no evil in our annoying main character"

I'm ranting because I'm annoyed that I disliked the the series so much in three episodes that I'm fast fowarding through parts I haven't even seen -.- But I liked the manga, it was a fairly mediocre, maybe good story but the characters were interesting, they had a depth that so far not a single character has shown in the anime.

To chrono's comment: The 3rd episode does reveal Kouichi's motives though and Kizaki does indeed see how drunk with power Kouichi has become and says "you...make me sick." Nuff said right there eh? I hope the plot gets better as i agree its kinda meh at the moment, and its like alright these guys in subs keep attacking for some robot but we don't know why or what will happen. But the episodes have mainly been about the evolution of Kouichi from a powerless wimp who dreams of power to a megalomaniac who does not use his power in moderation. He becomes so obsessed he forgets the principles of who he is protecting, why he is doing it, and he forgets the repurcussions of his careless actions can lose him the ones he wishes to protect. I hope that Kizaki gets a more central role in the future episodes because it would be nice to see a strong heroine who doesnt just assist the hero but actually is her own character and not a supporting role. Ima keep watching, i hope the plot improves, and i stand by my theory that only those who empathize with or understand what Kouchi has been through really know why he does what he does.

Well the kick upside the head came quicker than I thought.

I'm welling to bet it's not enough though. I bet he goes through at least an episode of meltdown before he decides to try and grow up.

Your guess is good as mine, I'm betting that Kouichi will ran off from his so-called "hero of justice" role, in order to save whatever pride he has left. It will be harsh, it will be catastrophic, and it will be deliciously bitter sweet.

the main character is too arrogant like holy-Juan has said, but that makes it more interesting. I love how the character changes little by little in the plot. Great Anime A++ we dont see these animes too much..
