Ok well I searched to see if this was a dup and nothing came up also it's a wierd sort of thread so not sure which section to put this in.

This is all about video editing programs.

Do you edit videos urself?
What program do you use?
Any advice that you have.

Also discuss or ask anything u want and someone may answer.

I myself like to make anime music videos and so far i am unable to find any video editing program besides Windows Movie Maker because I don't have money to buy a proper one (or there are no cough torrents cough). All the free ones are useless and can't do anything also i don't have enough money for a mac lol. I also have a question. Is there an option in windows movie maker that can have a video which is transparent playing behind another video?

I'm also looking at Sony Vegas 7 which seems pretty good so far but it's a lot harder to use and it seems to take up more of my computer power and isn't as fast and easy to use as WMM

and the advice i have is try to use the vista version of windows movie maker because it is a lot nicer to use especially on a more powerfull computer.

anyway just say what u know and stuff like that.

As far as free video editing softwares go, I think that VideoSpin is a good one, at least it's better than WMM. (Here's PCWorld's review on it.) It's great for a freeware, and if you only want to dress up your video a little before you post it on some video sharing website.

But if you want professional videos with all those cool effects and flashy junks then you "might" have to pay for obtain a commercial software. As of right now, I don't think there's any freeware that does all those fancy effects.

***Notice that the word "might" is in quotation marks. Pirate is another way to obtain them. You could also obtain them by download the free trial then replace the original .exe file with another fake .exe that someone created. Like an imposer, the fake .exe will allow you to use the software freely.

But I recommend you not to pirate because I don't think it worth the risk. I mean, if it's just for entertainment, then there's no need to take the risk of dealing with all the trouble for violating the copyright law.

I'm also an amv/gmv maker and believe me sony vegas 8>>>>>>>>>>>>any windows movie maker. You have way more effects, transitions, accepts way more/ can render more filtypes (both audio and video).
You can even have unlimited layers (like in photoshop y'know?) which mean you can play/edit more than one video/sound file at the same time (unlike wmm). You can also edit the placement of the videos on the screen (as in rotating it, flipping it, drawing it to the side). The only hard thing is finding it; you can get it on piratebay.org but it's still hard to first of all find the program, then find a cracked version that isn't full of trojans.
Bottom line: Sony vegas 8 rocks, it's difficult to understand but you'll definetly get better when you manage to understand it and you will get flashier results than with wmm. Alrough downloading is a bitch.

it's against da rulez to discuss illegal stuff... even if everyone agrees with it and uses it

Yep, I've used sony vegas. ITS GOOD.
And its not hard to use.. if you can use windows movie maker, you'll probably be able to use vegas too.

Does flash count?, and Maya.. but thats a little hard.

Flash is fun to use, you can draw random stuff in your videoclip with easy.. Remember " starwars-kid".

I make videos myself. I use Sony Vegas 7.0 and then Adobe After Effects if l need mass effects or camera angles. You will want anything higher then Windows Movie Maker. Vegas is really easy to learn if your willing.

I've used sony vegas a little too definately a useful program. I still need to have more of a play with it to do anything really good though.

Recommend trying it out at least

It's not even the video editing, it's the DAMN converts that are a major pain to find.
