I'm a guy... but...

Would you prefer a long ass manga (like maybe about 30-40 chapters) or a shortish manga (say around 10 to 15 chapters).
As long as it stays interesting, it shouldn't matter.

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?
Light, pif, who likes serious manga, but generally, most have a balance of the two, even manga like death note still have comedy.

Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss). I dislike harem.

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?
Bit of both.

Most importantly, do you prefer romance with another genre (like romance-action or romance-fantasy, romance-comedy etc. Basically stories like Vampire Knight, La Corda D'oro, and School Rumble) or a story that focuses MAINLY on romance with a bit of extra sub-plot that you don't really care about (Special A).
Yeah, just normal school romance is pretty boring.

Then I also wanna know if ecchi is necessary.
No

Tragic ending: really bad idea, bad idea but tolerable, okay idea, good idea, great?
I'd prefer a tragic conclusion, but a tolerable ending :P

Should the main character be cute and moe or strong and smart? Plain or pretty or beautiful?
All.

1. Shortish

2. Serious

3. Between two people. Would be better if it focuses on more than one couple. I would love a story where in the end everybody has someone.

4. If it's done reasonably, I don't really care. But I do prefer it to be fast and when they find out they are not suitable for each other, they break up and move on.

5. I would prefer it focusing mainly on romance as most good romance manga I read are like that. But Vampire Knight is good too. So if the mixing other genres is done well, I would probably like it too. I am not into the school life + romance type. There are good romance manga where the characters are in high school or university but it doesn't mean they are necessarily about school life. Those characters can have work, social life and other activities outside school, see?

6. Smut (sex scenes) and a bit of tasteful nudity (male or female) are good if they are well mixed with the story. The usual ecchi (panty shots, groping boobs, nosebleeds, old pervert men, etc) found in male-oriented manga is BAD and mostly gross.

7. Bad idea but tolerable.

8. I am OK with all those as long as the main character has something that stands out in their personality. Nobody is perfect but there is always something good about them. Perfect characters are fine too. The nice dumb slow person type without a common sense is NOT perfect and can be annoying.

not too long and not too short

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?
Light, the only reason i read mangas is bcoz of the comedy

Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss).
harem- I just love them

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?

i don't mind but just not too ecchi

-long story.
-either is fine, just make sure that the story is interesting and has a big conflict that is difficult to solve. but it has to have comedy, else it'll be boring.
-between 2 people. more then that, hate em.
-end! more romantic.
-romance with another genre. if its only romance-comedy, it'll be kind of boring. (since i like bleach, d.grayman more than kisskiss, etc.)well, S.A. is an xception.
-not too much, just a tiny bit, is fine.
-tragic ending? if necessary to end it in a satisfying way. but i dont think it'll be satisfying if its tragic...
-i prefer characters that use their brain, but, it also depends on the story, what kind it is. but if the pic was too "beautiful" like the eyes are soo watery, shiny ,etc. i HATE it.

Would you prefer a long ass manga (like maybe about 30-40 chapters) or a shortish manga (say around 10 to 15 chapters).
Hmm, I'd say about 80 chapters? But if the story is really good, longer of course ^-^

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?
Definately light, but with a little bit of serious. It can't be too childish.

Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss).
Romance between two main people. But it's always fun when they hate each other at first, and within time they come to like each other (; Something with too many girls/boys would just be plain annoying...

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?
Hmm, not fast, building over time :D

Most importantly, do you prefer romance with another genre (like romance-action or romance-fantasy, romance-comedy etc. Basically stories like Vampire Knight, La Corda D'oro, and School Rumble) or a story that focuses MAINLY on romance with a bit of extra sub-plot that you don't really care about (Special A).
Romance-Action... I like it when the romance isn't trying to be made obvious in the anime/manga, but you soooo know it's gunna happen ;3

Then I also wanna know if ecchi is necessary.
not really, but I wouldn't cross it out if it was included. It might be off putting for some girls though...

Tragic ending: really bad idea, bad idea but tolerable, okay idea, good idea, great?
AMAZING ending. Keep the tragedies with the minor characters... so they're easy to get over ;D

Should the main character be cute and moe or strong and smart? Plain or pretty or beautiful?
Cute/Hot is a big yes ;D (trust me, all girls want this) good sense of humour/troublemaker
Plain girl, but with that hint of prettiness. Shy is always fun :D

-10-15 as long as it covered enough for us to understand the idea of the story. 30-40 as long as it covered a lot of important stuff for anyone to tolerate how long it is. like lets say it is a story that has fantasy as another genre, it kinda needs a lot of explaining because it's a made-up world. or maybe you want to show how hard and long the girl worked to get the guy. really depends actually.

-depends, but i want it to be a little serious if u want to include a tragic ending.

-two people. in harem, the other guys are just pretty decorations while she can only choose one and i hate the annoying crap the main character goes on about if she cant choose.

-i say the endish part, before the final conclusion of the story.

-romance with another genre is interesting. a shoujo manga with a campus story is already really typical.

-no, ecchi is not necessary.

-okay idea. if u want to make an impact i guess.

-stong(as in in their will-power), smart and plain. i dont like those main characters who only has their looks to be proud of.

Long.

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?

Serious with some funny parts in it.

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?

In the middle.

Most importantly, do you prefer romance with another genre (like romance-action or romance-fantasy, romance-comedy etc. Basically stories like Vampire Knight, La Corda D'oro, and School Rumble) or a story that focuses MAINLY on romance with a bit of extra sub-plot that you don't really care about (Special A)?

I prefer it with a different genre, but the actual genre doesn't matter.

Then I also wanna know if ecchi is necessary?

No, I hate ecchi.

Tragic ending: really bad idea, bad idea but tolerable, okay idea, good idea, great?

I don't mind if it's tragic, but endings like everyone dying is kinda dumb.

Should the main character be cute and moe or strong and smart? Plain or pretty or beautiful?

Doesn't matter, but I'd prefer if she wasn't a complete moron.

Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss).

reverse harem

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?

i say middle...

LONG!

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?
I like it serious, but with some fluff in it. = ]

Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss).
Reverse Harem all the way!

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?
Hm... It can be obnoxious when it's at the end... because if it's good you want to know what their life was like together.
But completely stupid if they hate each other, then magically it's love (i.e Itazura na kiss)
So the middle. = ]

I like both, but another genre is excellent.

Then I also wanna know if ecchi is necessary.
No, it's really not.

Tragic ending: really bad idea, bad idea but tolerable, okay idea, good idea, great?
Bad idea but tolerable.

Should the main character be cute and moe or strong and smart? Plain or pretty or beautiful?
She should be realistic.
One of my favourite heroines is Tohru Honda, because she's a good mix of stupid, overly nice, honest, and just somebody you want to be friends with. = ]
I hate when the girls are overly stupid...

Hope this helps! = ]

EDIT- thanks to everyone who answered, I actually check back regularly cos the answers are important. I'm starting a shoujo manga and this is my blog which keeps track of my progress, character designs etc xD http://manga-time.livejournal.com/

- long manga
- comedy
- right at the end so it's just focused on romance bet. 2 people
- romance&another genre
- ecchi is not necessary
- yeah, tragic ending is fine.. as long as you can give it a very acceptable kind of ending
- someone who's dense is always nice lol
*it is a good idea if the manga you are planning to do has a well-developed plot. i've read so many mangas but some of them, when it comes to plot [& their lovey-dovey parts] it becomes obvious that they are skipping parts that would actually make a manga good

Long stories are more my type.

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?
I like them to have a bit of both.

Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss).
BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?
in the middle, to see how it goes and how it began.

Most importantly, do you prefer romance with another genre (like romance-action or romance-fantasy, romance-comedy etc. Basically stories like Vampire Knight, La Corda D'oro, and School Rumble) or a story that focuses MAINLY on romance with a bit of extra sub-plot that you don't really care about (Special A).
no matter if it's have romance, or not, I like drama, lots of it.

Then I also wanna know if ecchi is necessary.
Only in a josei manga, like Nana..

Tragic ending: really bad idea, bad idea but tolerable, okay idea, good idea, great?
it depends. not all mangakas have talent for tragic endings.

Should the main character be cute and moe or strong and smart? Plain or pretty or beautiful?
I preffer a beautiful heroine, strong and confident, 'cause if I want a plain jane, I'd turn to a mexican telenovela, not a shojo manga.

Romance-comedy-action.
Then I also wanna know if ecchi is necessary.

short ones would do. you know, short and sweet ;D

Would you prefer a story that's more serious or light (ie. lots of comedy)?

both serious and light moments?
Which one's better, reverse harem (like Fushigi etc) or just romance between mainly two people (like Itazura na Kiss).
i guess either one would be fine

Should the romance be fast (like early on in the manga) or right at the end?

hmms, maybe like you know sweet stuff at the front, and show how they rly get together.
well, my pov is that if the char gets tgt fast, it'll start to get boring.

Firstly, I guess shortish.
Not too light nor serious, be balanced.
Reverse Harem ..
Right at the end, so we can see the plot developing from no love to lovey dovey xD
I'd prefer romance with some other genre mixed.
Errrr, I don't care so it's not needed to me.
Okay idea; I was like crying at the sad endings but it ended pretty well.
Girls should be somewhat clumsy, in a way it can be defined as a little cute and quite strong.
Guys should be drawn as cute or cool though cool is nicer to me. Like Zero with his earrings, gives off an effect

Cool..you're doing a shoujo manga! So talented! Ganbatte then :D

Long, but it has to be good.
I prefer a good mix of serious sbj. plus comedy.
Hmm..I like romance between two ppl better, I only read reverse harem to drool at bishies x]
The romance should definitely be at the end, unless there's an unexpected twist and the main character ends w/ a diff. guy.
Yes definitely! Romance alone is too plain.
Ecchi isn't necessary.
I hate tragic endings, esp. if they're sappy. THe only good tragic endings I've seen so far are rlly few.
Smart and Pretty/Beautiful! A good role model for the girls out there :] I seriously hate some of the airheaded heroines in mangas out there ahem..honeyxhoneydrops..ahem.
