Being "normal" is based on one's personal perception of what is normal/abnormal. There isnt one universal definition for it.
I think girls who sit around being occupied with their looks, spend hours getting ready to go out and spend their time talking about boys 24/7 with their friends are weird. They might think my wanting to spend friday night watching civilization documentaries is weird

Don't worry about it too much. Being "weird" is much more fun anyway.

heehee i know, i just think it would be interesting to see what is percieved as 'normal' nowadays. have you ever asked someone what 'normal' is when they call you weird? it's very rare to get a straight answer XD

My friends think im weird because I watch anime, don't like going out to clubs, not interested in starting a family, more of a loner. They often say "missa you're so weird, why don't you come out with us sometime and have fun?" they dont understand that my idea of fun isnt the same as theirs.

Normal is impossible to define as far as i'm concerned. I think, since we are a social species, normality is based on the typical social/culture you life in.
Meowsa said that she is seen as 'weird' for liking different things. This shows that we don't all fit into the expected norm. Infact i'm pretty sure noone fits exactly and, if they do, it's very likely they aren't being themselves.
I think weird can be taken too seriously sometimes aswell! I've been called weird 3 times today alone and none of them really bother me! I get on with all 3 people and, in the end, they were the one's who chose to listen and respond to me! I think they have weird points too, i just tend to be more carefull of saying it incase they have low self esteem! ^-^

I would say don't worry, be yourself and accept other peoples' wierdness aswell- the obvious answer really!

''If we were all normal; well that would just be plain weird!'' ^-^

Normal is boring, hence why I never understood why people want to be just that. Everyone's normal is different anyway, which is kind of weird if you think about it.

So many people I know are weird in their own ways, and they all freely admit it, that I can only come to the conclusion that being weird is normal. That's how I prefer to state it, anyway. I've been called weird plenty of times, I think it's a compliment.

"Normal" people terrify me. There is a socially defined ever changing equation that determines whether or not they will accept you into the herd. As far as friends go, I tend to shop in the dented and mislabeled section because it is a lot of work for "normal" people to turn on the TV and find out who they are supposed to be every day. The outcasts have more time for fun and adventure.

Normals just the way things usually are. If your walking to work naked, thats not normal. If you have purple hair and your a lawyer, thats not normal. So, the first point is that normality depends on the context. If your a chef its normal to have a knife on you, if your in prison its not.

Do we really need to make it more complicated then this? If anyone wants to talk about something philosophically interesting (such as precising the definition) by all means, but what interests you guys is largely the social effects. No reason to take these people serious usually, as you hopefully quickly learn. If they ask something like "why can't you be normal" just say something like "why cant you be diffrent?"

"Normal" is just a facade some people put up because they're afraid of being rejected by others.

It depends. You could say we're all freaks and thus, because we are all freaks, we are normal because being a freak is the norm. Sorta like the 'everyone is unique' paradox.
